Ijalana is a capable RT and a serviceable backup LT. We need a new long term starter at LT. Wesley Johnson has been pretty good filling in for Mangold, though he obviously doesn't have his experience or savvy, he should be fine until we find our next big thing at C. Winters has been good for the most part this year and Carpenter is Carp. Breno should've been cut going into the season. I prefer both Ijalana and Qvale to him.
If I were the GM at this point, I'd be looking to trade anything or anybody this team has rights to that is not named Leonard Williams for as many draft picks and young players as we can get. Once the season is over, let the trade bonanza begin! Everyone else is expendable, though Mauldin, Lee, Jenkins, and our young WRs warrant keeping around unless we get better-than-fair-value offers for them.
The hate has been directed more-so towards Bowles and people have given Mac a pass. Everyone isn't bashing Mac. Both need to be held accountable TOGETHER.
Mind boggling that Breno is still on the team ... so what he traded a 5th rounder for Clady don't forget we traded a 5th for Marshall ya can't win em all its not like we hit on our picks anyway not much missed there just think of our recent 4th and 5th round gems AKA Shaq Evans and Jalin Saunders man oh man Shell , George the list goes on I won't kill MM for that
Yes he missed on guys such as Jenkins and Clady but he did well with McLendon, Marshall, Forte, great young WR nucleus to build on and the jury is still out on the quarterbacks ... good news is we are far from cap hell ... next season if he trades Sheldon he could cut Revis, Breno, Harris, (bring back for the vet min) and Erin Henderson which will create 41 million in space to work with ...
At least we finally get to draft oline in the first round for he first time since brick. If possible I would try to get brick out of retirement with a home town discount for next year the draft a stud LT that can fill in at RT till brick is ready to go. This could be done with Clady as well.
Didn't want to make a new thread for this, but why did they cut Jenkins? Seems a little hasty for a 3rd round pick at a position where they desperately need help. Some team will probably get him off the waiver wire and we'll all be pissed when he's playing well in a couple years. Mac seems to cut people way too prematurely.
Bowles is not Belicheat (yet) and I'm sure he relies heavily on his position coaches (who work with these players every day) and his coordinators when deciding who to start and who to sit. He's never made that excuse (to his credit) but you KNOW a young, 1st time HC struggles to get their arms around the whole team (offense, defense, teams, 50+ players, injuries, practice squad guys, etc) plus all the scheduling and game planning that goes on. Just as the speed of the game slows down for QBs in their 3rd, 4th year, so it will for any new HC. Give it time boys. Belicheat got fired from his first gig coaching the Cleveland Brown Floaters. Now he's the best HC the league has ever seen. Give it time. Oh, and give him some good players.
