Anyone else think it's time for him to retire? Great Jet, but every rose has its thorn

This is really the first year that Nick had any injuries. He's been a work horse and calls the Oline assignments. A smart cookie, but nearing the end of his string. I'll be sorry if he gives it up at the end of the season. It would be nice if he come back as an OLine assistant coach. So far, the replacement is dong a fair job.

Had the high ankle sprain '11 which was a bad one, and effected him into the next season. He did everything he could to get back in '11 as quickly as possible in spite of being badly injured. Tough sonovagun.

To answer the OP: Fuck no

I mean it's sad to see him get banged up. But why would any Jets fan root for our most consistent Jet of the past decade to retire when he's still playing at a solid level?

Then again, I guess there's a reason that it says 'Trolls' under your username.

I'm hoping he'll know when to hang up the cleats.

Nick Mangold is headed straight for the Ring of Honor if I have anything to say about it.

Mangold still has a couple of years ahead of him. It's amazing how durable he's been. The guy is an all time Jets great. The team needs to draft a couple of future OL starters in the next draft. We've put it off way to long.

But you also have to remember that its a game of easy come and easy go.

And I'm not proud that I even knew what you were doing there.

$8.5 million turning 33 in January 2017. You know Belichick would cut him after this season. And that's 1 of the numerous reasons why the Patriots have such long-term success.

Mangold has been a rock for the Jets' o-line, as was Brick. Both are even better men off the field. With that said, I believe Mangold has a year left in him as our starting center before he walks away. He doesn't strike me as a guy who'll hang around too long. As much as I hate to envision not having our Wookie at center, I've been quite pleased with how Wesley Johnson has played for us these past two games. I agree though we need to continue to add to our o-line through the draft. I'm hopeful Maccagnan can strike gold in the coming draft(s) for the Jets to bolster their o-line for the long-term.

I hate these BB bullshit statements. It's having the greatest QB (or one of) fall into your lap in round 6 that makes his job so easy and makes his team look good every year. When your 40 yr old QB is still playing lights out, you can cut or trade a few named players. AS LONG AS IT'S NOT SAID QB. And don't give me Garropollo/other QB bs, those teams they played weren't exactly cream of the crop. Ask the browns.

The highest praise I can give Mangold is that he is as good as Kevin Mawae

Leave it to Jets fans to tell you to retire after missing like your first game in 12 years of All-Pro'ness.

Wes Johnson didn't look lost in relief, which suggests that maybe they're doing a competent job training backup centers. Maybe the days of turnstile Hunter are over?

Tonight's Alabama - LSU tilt features two future potential replacements for Mangold and Cady:

1st round: Alabama OLT Cam Robinson
2nd round: LSU C Ethan Pocic

Pocic could be available in the early 2nd - LSU's offense is still in adjustment mode after HC and QB changes so how Pocic's season pans out still remains to be seen and it begins for real tonight with a huge test for Pocic (and LSU's OL) vs. 'Bama's dominant defensive front.

Cam Robinson on the other hand would be a no-brainer 1st round pick for Maccagnan if he's available when the Jets are on the clock.

    ('Bama -7) 27, LSU 17.

Sorry we only draft defense in the first round then follow it up with a shit pick in the 2nd. If Cam falls to the 3rd round then we are going after him.

If Brady didn't miss the '08 season, I might agree with you.
