Chad played a nice game today. Yes his interception was a horrible throw, but he managed the game well, threw some very nice balls (including one potential TD that hit Coles in a bad place - in the hands) and kept their crowd quiet during most of the third quarter, all while playing in wet conditions. Chad haters, feel free to disagree. Perhaps Clemens or Ramsey would have played better. TBTF
I liked how he moved around in the pocket, did his dumpoffs, checked down... His passes weren't that good, neither were Brady's though, bad bad weather. But Chad did show a nice arm on both of his deep passes to Coles, a little too inconsistent for my liking though.
Pennington played a decidedly average game, but that's all we needed today so good for him. Schottenheimer had a nice offensive gameplan for the Pats defense and for the rain, and Pennington executed very well on the short passes so give him credit for that.
He made some nice throws (those 2 perfect lob passes out to the flat, long bomb to Coles that he dropped, passes made on the run), but he also had a few inaccurate tosses and made a couple poor decisions. But considering the weather conditions and who he was playing against, I'm pleased with his performance. He certainly didn't do anything to cost us the game, that's for sure.
He wasn't at his most accurate today but he threaded the needle once or twice and showed good awareness in the pocket.
Neither QB today was great but ours was better than theirs. Chad made some decent passes, some bad passes, and the TD to JC that was a hairline away from being picked. As always, an overreaction to an otherwise average day by Pennington. He was better than last week, but not as good as week one. Average day today for Chad. Leave it at that.
Not when you consider the opponent and field and weather conditions. I'd call it a good game, not great but good.
He's playing for his job right now and today he was good enough to put up some extra in the positive column. If the Jets beat the Bears next week, and I give them a real shot to do that, then he probably stays entrenched as the starter until the next training camp.
Overreaction? Where did you get that idea? So far, everyone here basically said the same thing you did in your first paragraph. Average game, some decent passes, some bad. Hell, I don't even think RobA said Chad played out of his mind. Maybe you're only seeing what you want to see.
Two more losses in the next two weeks and we see Kellen Clemens start game 12. I really believe that. On the other hand I also think the Jets have a very good shot at winning at home against the Bears next week. The NFL is a very strange place and it gets MUCH stranger under a competent regime that is dedicated to rebuilding the franchise in a very short period of time.
Maybe you've seen a RobA post in this thread somewhere? I see someone asking for a different opinion to theirs regarding Chad's play today. I saw someone asking for Chad haters to come out and attack Chad's play. So perhaps your opinion of what I see is flat out wrong. Then again, nothing surprises me around here anymore...
Well, if the Jets lose to the Bears and Texans at home and the D plays like today, Pennington should be benched.
You can attack Chad's play all you want, but that's irrelevant to my point. Your first post claimed that we're "overreacting" to Chad's play today, even though everyone here pretty much agreed that he had an average day with a fair share of good and bad throws. The comment seemed like an unjustified jab at Pro-Chad fans to me.
No Kiddin! Huge test for Chad next week. Hopefully, our OLine will play as well next week as they did today cause if not, its gonna be a long day at the office for the Chad.
and this thread calling out of fans that aren't Pro-Chad was justified how? Every time we win a game can we expect this? If so, then fine. Nobody's attacked Chad's play in this thread so far.
