What a game! I'm so friggin' estatic right now. Way to come through by both the offense and the defense. I know both looked shakey, but when it mattered, they came through. Cotchery with that insane TD catch, Coleman's one handed pick, and then special teams, Justin Miller seems to be the new elite kick returner in the league. Bring on the BEARS!
I don't mean to interject into a convo I'm not fully aware of all the details of but if I got this correct you supported the refs in not reviewing the pushout call in the Clev game. Correct? Yes, they were right for not reviewing the judgement call according to the rules as they are right now. The 'bad' part of the bad call was calling it not a pushout in the first place when it was clear two defenders converged on a receiver 3 feet inbounds and falling straight down to rocket him like 2-3 yards out of bounds. That's the bad part of the bad call. I'm glad I could clear that up for you.
Hobson did not slow down even slightly as he hit Brady and after he hit him (he took two full steps as he took Brady down), and the league has made it completely clear that you just can't do that to the QB. If he slows down once the ball leaves Brady's hand and it's still a roughing the passer call, then the Jets have a much bigger complaint. Defensive linemen are called for what Hobson did all the time in the NFL these days.
True. But there is the rule and the spirit of the rule. He was running for 15 yards, of course the guy will be lifted off the ground. And he didn't throw him to the ground he fell down to the ground, which looked hard but he had all that force after running for 15 yards. You're right, according to the letter of the rule yes. But I don't think that is the "spirit" of the rule so to speak. But that is just my opinion.
You don't have it correct. I was on a train during last weeks game and didn't even know what happened until the next day. What I was talking about was the roughing the passer call earlier today. I'm glad I could clear that up for you.
umm i'd agree with you but there's one small thing...hobson couldn't see the ball being released, his eyes are looking directly at the other goal post so for all he knows Brady still has the ball...from HS you are taught to play to the whistle and finish tackles...the min you stop doing that is the min you stop being an effective player which wha the NFL is trying to do when it comes to QB's
Oh...the roughing the passer call...I didn't see that....my mistake...it still was a bad call that no push out of bounds call though...totally rancid.
:jets: ats_suck: :jets: ats_suck: :jets: I love being in Massachusetts now. lol Boston media is saying that losing to the Jets was an embarrassment. lol
I didn't say it wasn't funny... Shit was funny. It was myabe that I only saw your posts that had nothing to do with talking football in a gamethread. Maybe I just looked up at the wrong times  Again, Nothing personal......... Oh, and I better see Mangini in that suit as your avatar by the end of next week....
I can vouch for him. I was bitching to him at 6:30 AM on the bus the next morning and he was clueless.
it really is funny that after the cleveland mess and people screaming about the rules and how can the refs go against the rules to hear people whining about the refs correctly calling a roughing the passer penalty according to the rules.
Interestingly the Steelers just got an even worse call - the rusher fell down short of the QB, reached out and touched his foot and got called for hitting him below the knee!
