In Monty Python's Holy Grail movie, they have a scene where the plague has ravaged a village. A man pulls a cart loaded with dead diseased bodies and calls out "bring out your dead". The villagers respond and bring out their dead like they were setting out milk bottles for the milk man.

One man bringing out a supposed dead person says to the cart puller "ears another for you" suddenly the dead man lifts his head and says "I'm not dead yet".

Yesterday Francesa made a good point in observing that the Jets have had not only a tough schedule against playoff caliber teams (Bengals, Chiefs, Seahawks, Steelers, Cardinals) but also had that combined with a brutal schedule (4 Away Games including two 8:30PM games and one 4:30PM games). He also made note that the only other team that had somewhat as brutal a schedule / match-up was the Bengals.

The Jets are 1 and 5...the Bengals are 2 and 4.

Ravens are beatable. We will be in our own house. The teams we play after the Ravens (save for the Pats which we normaly win one match) are beatable.

    All is not lost...

The only problem with the Holy Grail analogy is that the 'not dead bloke' gets pummelled over the head and dies.

That's us this week against the Ravens, sadly.

So we'd be at best 10-6 (Pats split) and at the bottom of any match-up to Steelers, Bengals and KC.

We also can't beat the Bronco's in common opponents without a sweep of NE and for it to be the Raiders in a tie-break they'd have to of won/lost the right amount of games to actually finish second ahead of KC or Bronco's. Such a combination would inevitably give them the WC edge as well same goes for the Ravens into second over Bengals/Steelers especially as they would be matched up with the inter-divisional games.

so.............we need to be 11-5 to have a shot.

I was thinking this, but usually when we think this way as jets fans we're very wrong. Like in 2014 after we got through the brutal part of the schedule the damage was already done. Injuries had set in, solid game plans were out the window, confidence was shot and spirits were low.

Maybe a QB change will give the guys something to play for. aka Bryce Petty.

Not dead is right and we will probably play just well enough to keep bowels as coach and get the 10-15th draft pick which we will use to take a safety with.

    Dead!

Seriously. We couldn't keep pace with the Pats when Brady was sidelined.

The wildcard is not happening with the conference losses we've already accumulated.

Panthers are also 1-5 which means th........ nothing, absolutely nothing at all. Well, maybe, there is at least one group of fans right now gnashing their teeth louder than us. I'm think SB to 1-5 and Jets fans would be picketing the stadium to have everybody fired.

Todd Bowles and Co. have some serious issues on their hands with this team. Some of the issues addressed are really chunky, cap clogging and have zero desire to be where they need to be. Todd better break out some industrial strength tools or get ready for a 2nd flush.

We're dead. I can see that spin if we were competitive in every game, but we have played like the worst team in the league for 4 straight weeks.

they are not going anywhere unless/until they bench fitzpatrick. Old, immoble, weak arm and the other team knows it--the safeties are closer to the line of scrimmage than the linebackers knowing he can't throw it with any authority downfield.
