This is the kind of guy Byrd was........ He broke his back colliding with Scott Mersereau. They were close friends on the team and Mersereau was obviously devastated. A few days after the injury Mersereau goes to the hospital to see Byrd. Byrd is paralyzed in bed with screws in his spine. Nonetheless he smiles when Mersereau comes into the room and says "Mers, My wife and I have been so worried about you, are you okay?" paralyzed and yet making sure his friend is okay. amazing.
Thanks for posting the video. Dennis Byrd gave his all every time he played. Dennis Byrd was PROUD to be a JET. Dennis Byrd makes me PROUD to be a Jets fan!!! A special human being. Will never forget him. All of a sudden.....this monday night game is a must watch. Hope Jets come out with as much energy as Dennis would have.
