You and I will have to agree to disagree, especially when you throw Flacco and Alex Smith into the average QB category, those guys are good NFL QBs. The rest of the bums on that list are exactly that, and Ryan is on that list as well. If anything, TB is proving that the jets should not hire DC as HC anymore. The last one was a loudmouth incompetent HC and this one is becoming a quiet incompetent HC, would not be surprised if he is canned at the end of the season and Mac is allowed to hire the next HC instead of Woody hiring him.
We should be so lucky.. I just hope its someone that doesn't have to learn on the job again. That shit just doesn't work for the Jets.
I am as down as anyone on this team but we are 1-3 after coming off a 10-6 year and people are already starting talk of the coach getting fired?!! Let's have some continuity please. We are feeding the beast that is the years of pain and disappointment. Bowles has not even had a chance to turn over the roster yet. He came in highly regarded around the league and coached better than we all expected in year one. Yes he is hitting a rough patch here against a killer schedule with a journeyman QB at the helm but give him some time to right the ship. All of us looked at this schedule and said ouch we could be in trouble by October and we are there now but everyone is acting like they expected us to be 4-0. I don't care what happens the rest of the way Bowles has to get at least another year or two. If we turnover coaches like the browns no one of any quality will ever want to coach this team.
I agree while changes need to be done on the defense what we are seeing is yrs of bad drafting coming home to roost. From Milner one down one disappointment after another
Nail, head. I think I just want them to continue to build the roster and find out if some of these young guys can play, just stop worrying about "win now". Ron
That 10-6 year was all smoke and mirrors. We played the second easiest schedule in the league and basically went through the entire year with no serious injuries and even with that we couldn't beat Ryan and his mush less talented team even once with the playoffs in sight. This year reality about this team is setting in.
Ok so we're going to Pittsburgh banged up and unable to stop anything in the air. The Steelers are a top franchise and we've won once in Pennsylvania in 56 years. We can probably move the ball on them even sans Decker but this game has 38-24 Steelers written all over it Then Arizona. Yep. Not winning that one either At 1-5 we need to change courses and mothball Fitz. I love the guy. It's nice to have him instead of Sanchez or Greg McElroy or a not ready for primetime Geno. Fitz isn't a star but at least he has stretches of competent to good play (as well as horrific play) Thing is he has no future here. He's about to be 34 and his arm is deflating to Pennington level. I can't stand Geno Smith but at 1-5 the season is over. At 1-5 I think we throw Geno in there for one last try and see how he does. Then perhaps...late in the year if Geno is looking meh or crappy, we go ahead and roll with Petty for the last 3-4 games of the season. I think the organization sees him as the future anyway and by then he should be fully recovered from his injury. He's shown major improvement in just one offseason And have Decker get the surgery and ready him for 2017. Limit Marshalls role. I bet his hip is balky too. I would rather roll with the other Marshall, Peake, Anderson, Enunwa, and see what we can get out of Sefarian-Jenkins. We need to see what we have in those guys
My TGG plan: (1) Start a "Jets just need to win out" thread (2) Start a "Jets need to clear house" thread (3) Start a "Jets must not draft a cornerback with the #4 pick" thread (4) Start a "I totally understand why the Jets drafted a CB with the #4 pick" thread (5) Watch the same cycle take place again in 2017-18 (6) Slit my wrists and spray "Champ was right" all over the Super Target restroom wall.
At 1-5 I am grabbing some hot chocolate (NOT A HOT TODDY) my Limus blanket, Snoopy doll, sucking my thumb in the corner BWAHHHH!!
I disagree slightly. First of all, I figure they'll be 1-6 before they win again. Baltimore is a much better and healthy team than they were last season. They will roll over the Jets rather easily. Also, just as much as you say Fitz is not the Jets future, neither is Geno Smith. In fact, I figure Geno has far less of a future with this team. At 1-6 if we do make a QB swap, I would want Bryce Petty to get the starting nod for two very good, practical reasons: 1) As I already mentioned Geno Smith has no future with this team. He's an asshole and I cannot imagine the Jets CS trusting him with the football. He would surely make an already very bad season that much worse. 2) Bryce Petty won in TC. How soon we forget these two competed one right after the other in preseason games. Geno with the 2's and Petty with the 3's. Bryce Petty cleaned Geno's clock. The statistics bear that out. I for one believe the winner in TC should get the backup job. Just because Todd Bowles sucks as a HC and decided to keep that idiot employed doesn't mean he should go right to him.
I don't see them losing to Baltimore. I think in the next few weeks assuming we lose the next two games, the Jets will be due for a very highly emotional game where they will pull one out. I am sure many of their own jobs will be threatened if they go 1-6. The rest I agree with, assuming Petty will be healthy of course.
