Not much since two of the three in-actives have done something so they are around.

Sounds good. Just joined. Not a bad roster for a 16 team league tho. Not sure why Calvin is still on the team tho lol. Just curious on the rules for keepers ?

Because he was an auto keeper (top six player from last year), meaning if you don't set your own keepers before the draft in September the LM auto puts the top six ranked players from your team last year as keepers.

You can keep 4-7 players but the only way you keep 7 is if two of them are defensive players so generally teams have 4-6 keepers.

Awesome. Just giving a scenario, if I keep 4 and you keep 6 does that in turn mean I have 2 draftpicks before your 5th and 6th keeper are taken off the board? I'm in a keeper league where I lose that round pick so cam in round 3 would mean i lose a third. Just trying to grasp the rules as most leagues are different.

    Yes.

So if you keep 4, and I keep 6, you'll have picks in rounds 5 and 6 (essentially 1 and 2) and I will not. Most teams end up keeping at least 5, so often the first round is only made up of a few teams.

Since 4 keepers are required, the first 64 players are automatically off the board. Deciding on your 5th player basically is an exercise where you have to figure out if that player is worth "more" than a pick around #65.

To a degree yes although you have to account for rookies that obviously can't be kept (like Zeke Elliott this year), and obviously more than 64 players will be kept so it's more of an approximation. This year's draft there were actually 80 keepers so five full rounds

    http://games.espn.com/ffl/tools/draftrecap?leagueId=39021

And the first ten picks of the draft (not including keepers) went like this:
    Zeke Elliott
    Thomas Rawls
    JJ Watt
    Michael Floyd
    Jeremy Langford
    John Brown
    Marvin Jones
    Sterling Shepherd (Rd. 6)
    Corey Coleman (Rd. 6)
    Luke Kuechly (Rd. 6)

But you can still get useful players even if you keep six players...I wound up with Diggs and Travis Benjamin with my first two picks this year in the 7th/8th round. The fact you can only keep a max of two QB's and four RB's helps against roster hoarding. Not to mention the fact you're essentially only drafting a max of 14 offensive players including keepers with the five defense and one kicking spots among your twenty picks.

And sometimes even this last part isn't literally true. Johnathan Stewart was clearly worth more than pick #65 but I had a nagging feeling that a second year would be one too many - especially in a PPR - and it looks like it's coming to pass. But that's not even a real concern atm since I have the Denver running game locked up and depth at WR where (in theory) I don't ever have to play a RB2 until Week 11.

Probably just gonna hoard my WR's, at least through the first few weeks of byes. Either Diggs or Benjamin (if not both) could be a very interesting WR3 keeper candidate after the season.

@NYJFan10 good points regarding keepers. In most years people are keeping more than 4. Also I mentioned the top 64 picks but the value is often different than redraft like you pointed out with jstew since it is a keeper league.
