Burning timeouts on defense, 12 men on the field on defense, challenging a 3 yard pass in the 1st quarter...hiring your stupid brother, who where ever he goes the NFL's worst defense will follow...
He is notorious for being super unorganized when changing D personnel. The only shock to me was on that 4 and 1 play that he didn't give it to the full back. Side note: How far has McCoy fallen off? dude used to be dynamic, now he dances, runs east/west and loses 2 yards
not to mention how stubborn Rex is, His CBs were getting owned by the bigger WR we have and he refused to give safety over the top help. THanks Rex
It's quite shocking to look at the screen with 30 seconds left and have 3 timeouts left. IIRC the only second half TO we used was to stop the clock on 4th down after running the clock down. Bowles has plenty of faults. The not going for two drove me nuts, but at least the team seems disciplined for the most part.
He had been doing that for a while, It used to drive me crazy when he stubbornly stuck to his scheme regardless of how bad the CBs were getting abused. He always blitzed on 3rd and long and the conversion rate for the offense must have been at least 70-80%. If he showed any kind of flexibility as a HC he probably would have still been with the Jets.
I am hopin he doesn't get fired for our sake. I hope they play juuust well enough that ownership there decides to keep him and they have a tough decision with Tyrod Taylor as well. Maybe they can beat the Patriots some game for us, have a late season "charge" to get to 8-8 or something. That would be best case scenario because they aren't going anywhere with Rex anyway. It would ensure they will always be mediocre and can get outcoached in games and since they are in our division that is good for us. --- Classic Rex: Down by 6 late in 4th quarter, at midfield, 1 yard to go. You bring a guy cold off the bench to run a sneak who fumbles and nearly costs you the game. Then you leave him in, in an attempt to get the defense to jump, high school style. It doesn't work. Burns a timeout even though you are losing and will obviously need that timeout. Then run a 1980s style, predictable stack your own box running play against the best defensive line in the league on 4th and 1.
Yup. No 2nd half adjustments to a failing strategy. Also, horrendous clock management at the end of the game. Nothing has changed.
Rex seems like a nice guy and all. And when he was here I was all about him. But now from the outside looking in, his flaws are VERY obvious. He is awful at clock management, way overrated defense and has no sense of team discipline whatsoever. Unbelievably, hes even worse as a talent evaluator. Charles Clay got paid like 42 million, and hes hot garbage.
Well, he can't very well fire the D-coordinator, can he? I mean, who'd pedal on the back of the bike? Who'd act as an excuse to load up on wings?
