Two freaking weeks to prepare for one team!! Last week; Buffalo won, Washington pulled an upset over Dallas, Detroit pulled an upset over Atlanta, and Miami pulled a major upset over Chicago... The catalyst? Each of those 4 teams had 2 weeks to prepare for their opponent! The Jets this season, outside of the Lions game, have come out flat on both sides of the ball, it's been sickening and hard to watch a team come out so unprepared this year at the start of games. But that has to stop against a team who is dominant after losing a game, a team who will have blood in their mouths after the loss they took, and a pissed off Tom Brady ready and primed to rebound after his horrible performance against Indy... We know New England is going to ram Maroney and Dillon down the Jets throat, the Jets have to know this, do whatever it takes to try and slow them down, anything!! All i'm saying is, with 2 weeks to prepare for an opponent, their is flat out no excuses for this team to come out slow. New England will probably win this game, but just don't get embarassed Jets, don't fall 21-0...Make it a game into the 4th quarter, possibly a 27-17 score, something along those lines... 2 weeks to prepare boys....2 weeks.
after they didn't constantly run the ball at Indy - who, like us, has a very weak rush-defense - i expect NE to pound the rock all game long. i think Maroney and Dillon each had 13 carries last week; that's a good amount, but they should have run even more against a swiss-cheese run D, like the Colts and us. cheers
I wouldnt care if we lost, as long as the Jets played hard and is boils down to the wire. A blow jout will be unexcuseable
Well unless Mangini and Tanny ran out to BJ's or Sam's and bought a brand new spanking defense, I would not get your hopes up too much. Preparation or not, Brady is going to come back this week hoping to leave his brand on whoever he faces. Sucks to be us. Best we can hope for is a shoot-out.
I never really noticed in previous years, but during the week off this year, we only practiced twice.
the defense stopped the browns in the 4th quarter, but only nugent and miller actually put up points on the board.hmy:
As long as we played hard? No moral victories in the NFL, win the game, don't just "play hard" and be happy with it. Add up all our moral victories/woulda coulda shouldas, and we're 7-1, but oh wait, no we're 4-4, and that's all that matters. Moral victories mean nothing.
Ooooohhh... scary... they stopped the Browns, for one quarter no less. I should be so impressed. IF we are going to beat New England, it will be on Penny's arm.
The reason why they didn't run the ball more against the Colts is because they needed points. You don't get many points running the ball (usually). Unless we can shoot out to a big lead or at least be a threat on offense from the get go, NE can just pound the ball down our throats. We haven't been great in the 1st quarter, and last time we didn't get anything done until near the end of the third quarter when the Pats D let up. The onus is going to be on Chad to produce something a lot earlier this time. Maybe his arm was fatigued, and he can come out firing. We need the Chad from 2002 and the San Diego playoff game. That same Chad needs to play every week. I haven't seen him since Games 1 and 2 of this year. This guy just doesn't bring his intensity every week anymore. And without that intensity, he isn't anything better than mediocre at best. The Patriots will kill us if mediocre is the best we can do on offense.
Exactly an hour and a half from kickoff man!!! This team HAS to be jucied up!(No pun intended, sincerely Barry Bonds)...This Jets team has a new feel and auroa and we are lovin' it! Just play to the whistle, don't fall in a hole like you did in the Meadowlands, give us another thing to be excited about after today's game.
This is one of the few times I actually believe the Jets will come out of the gate well. I almost never feel that way before a game, but I do today for some reason. I'm not saying they'll win, but I would be very surprised if they came out flat.
Preparation won't be worth much without the personnel to execute it. The Patsies have a very good duo of RBs behind a solid line. The Jets have a front 7 that's been playing like crap and getting pushed around as if they were rag dolls. Honestly, I don't expect the Jets D to suddenly turn it around over just one bye-week. If Maroney and Dillon have their way and run all over the Jets, I wouldn't be very surprised.
