Seriously....its not even like we got blown out, it was the first game of the season and we lost by a point. Frustrating loss obviously, but at least we have something to build on. Last 4 or 5 years we won the first game, and look how those seasons turned out.

I honestly believe people on this board wait for one bad thing to push their own agenda. I am not even sure they are Jets fans just internet trolls. One game in we are ready to bench the QB fire the coach and GM after we lose by one point opening day against a good team.

It is so over the top they can be nothing but trolls.

Dont get all hype when you see our team making those sexy turnovers and sacks on defense... then turn around and say bowles sucks. He draws that stuff up. & He's still growing! it's his second year, and he's a defensive mind.. i think he's doing a good job. We're not circus anymore.

One thing i can say is he needs to stop relying on Revis so heavily. We don't have the revis that DOESN'T need help any more.. stop hanging him out to dry, he's 31. sheesh.

Id argue that maybe if we selected a CB high like Mac Alexander instead of Hack id be better for the current state and future of our team but since we didnt were stuck with the talent out there. I like Mac and Bowles but i don't think it makes much sense to criticize one without criticizing the other. Bowles has to coach the players that are given to him and that secondary isn't really impressive like it may have been years ago. But yes coming here after a loss doesn't make much sense even if u wait till Tuesday to do so.

It can be a delicate situation, sometimes. The GM's job is the long term success of the team, while the head coach's job is to win this week and this season. The two don't always dovetail.

i don't think Bowles reports to Mac, and I'm glad he doesn't.

imo, head coaches and GM's should be independently evaluated every offseason.
unfortunately for us, the owner is a nimwit incapable of those evaluations. I'd like Woody to retain Wolf and Casserly's services for yearly reviews.....kind of like a board of directors for the team to help guide him on strategic decisions.

At home 4 minutes left you kick the fg and take the lead and put it on your so called elite defense to win the game. We were winning with 4 min left ball inside the 20. That's all u can ask for

The defense has given up 360+ yard to Andy freaking Dalton. It was late in the game and defense was tiring. Only a fool would consider this an elite defense. You go for the TD imo. Worst case scenario, you fail but you keep the Bengals at the 1 yard line with 4 min, 1 TO, + the 2 minute warning. Ill take my chances with going for the TD there any day of the week. Now, if the defense shut down Dalton most of the day, id kick the field goal but he torched the secondary all day long. I really hate pussy coaches.

I think its hard to judge a coach solely by what you see on Sundays, coaches coach players play, a lot of mis-execution by the secondary on sunday, looks like bad coaching, specifically that cover 3 play where the FS was suppose to give Revis deep middle help but did not. Another thing that a coach should be judged on is the growth and development of the players, This was a downfall of Rex. All in all wins and losses matter most, but I can't even get close to thinking about a coaching change now.

My problem was the way they settled/played for/set up the field goal on the 3 downs prior to that

I think on 4th you have to kick it there

They had to be thinking TD all the way and field goal as last resort and they didn't have any urgency whatsoever to go for the TD

Hopefully Bowles learns from this....a lead less than a field goal is nothing with all of the 15 yard flags flying these days

This thread is one of the reasons why I can no longer find it fun and interesting to read anything from posters who think after 1 game, they need to fire the head coach.

    Pathetic

If they went for the TD and missed, the same people complaining now would be saying to take the points.

Thats a no win situation. I thought Bowles made the right decision. If I recall, a shitty penalty helped put Cincinnati in great position, and then Marshall had a crippling drop on the following drive.

It was a very sloppy game from everyone not including the D-Line, Enunwa and Forte. Revis looked pretty damn good in the preseason, so I hope his struggling will not be a problem that persists.

Just depends on what you want from your coach I guess. I am not a fan of hot air. Yeah, I miss the playoff wins too. Sadly, that was 6 years ago. I disagree with you about feeling better after a bad loss though. That is when Rex's pressers were unbearable. He can only come off good in pressers after wins. Just how he is. After a loss he just looks even more pathetic talking like that. It worked for some I guess.

I don't know what you guys want from Bowles though. He was CLEARLY pissed after the Bengals game. He acted as if the Jets lost 44-0 instead of 23-22. Seems fired up for the Bills game too and focused.
