We'll call it the 'the Jets are ass and I told you so' thread.... Duck after a loss and enter draft night at your own risk....
Let's see who is laughing as Jimmy G just went in and beat a Super Bowl favorite on the road. Meanwhile we pay 12 million to a guy who is in the bottom 3rd of NFL qb's. Like I said if he's the next thing in the division, I'm done.
Normally the overreaction to one loss is very annoying, but today was a continuation of last years Buffalo game in so many ways that I get the disgust.
I could take this loss it hurts sure but the last time we played cincy they whipped us ... ironic is the fact that we always get hurt on the punting side of special teams ... this time for a change it was the kicker ): What really stings is the pats seem to find a way over and over again to win that makes me sick to my grave !
Its only game one so instead of crying over the bad I'll be happy for the good ... The OL showed up to play. The DL was legit FIRE !!!!!!! Forte still has it. Enunwa is coming into his own. Our punter is the real deal. Jalin will be very solid. Our revamped linebackers are legit. Maybe one day in my lifetime we will actually strike gold at QB. Our DB's need to step up to say the least ... that is all GO JETS
In 2010 we lost the opener to the Ravens 10-9 and looked horrendous doing it. We were coming off an AFCCG appearance, and we were loaded with talent. Enough talent to end up 11-5 that season and go back to the AFCCG ... With Mark Sanchez. Didn't matter. The whining after that game was unbearable. For a lot of people, that loss meant the season was over. As idiotic as it sounds, that's actually the way it is around here. It's going to be a riot if we lose on Thursday night. Because, as I'm sure you're well aware ... no team in NFL history has ever made up a two game deficit with 14 games to play. At that point we may as well start losing for a better draft pick, and start the coaching search.
The Jets are our team, rain or shine (mainly rain), but there were positives as has been mentioned. Forte was way ahead of anything we would have got with Ivory and the play of Powell on the drive that got us ahead 22-20 thrown into the mix we certainly have a fantastic one two punch. Marshall was his best agreed and Decker was really in the picture either, but Enunwa definitely picked up the slack on that part, last year we didn't have anyone else to look to after Marshall and Decker. It was a tough loss, but how many actually thought it was a gimme that we beat the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference, I didn't. If we do indeed end up 1-5 after the brutal start then we should obviously start to look at Petty and Hack, the reason for bringing Fitz back and the team being built to win now would be a moot point. Lets try and take that as a positive where the new QB's would get playing time, but not the level of expectation as we would not be challenging for anything.
It is ironic that the the starter of this thread is the guy who equates Fitz to some sort of Jedi master in his avatar. Please don't call out our shitty QB for what he is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was a tough loss, no doubt, but we've also got a bunch of positives to take out of this game that we can build on going forward.
Any other fan base would look at the final score and think wow the Jets put up a fight against a top 3 AFC team meanwhile here we are acting like we lost 41-3
True. The gut-wrenching losses just hurt more because of what "could" have been. When your team gets steamrolled, it's usually either because your team doesn't have the talent (so no reason to get expect them to win and thus get upset) or the team wasn't prepared to play/didn't show up. The latter is the most infuriating loss imo. As you and some others have pointed out, however, the team was very competitive yesterday against a topflight team and that is encouraging. We're getting close. With Fitz, we must have near perfect execution and can't make mental mistakes or miss kicks. If we can fix our secondary and OL in the offseason and either Petty or Hack develops, we should start winning games like yesterday.
