That's true, it's why the Jets are leading the series 17-15 since the last time the Bills were in the playoffs.

You're the moron. It isn't a matter of finding out whether they can play. It's knowing they're not going to be able to play well because their mechanics are so effed up their accuracy isn't going to be for shit, and a QB whose accuracy isn't for shit isn't worth much.

I wasn't talking about in practice, I was talking about the preseason games. That was the point you raised (that he wasn't playing in preseason games and all the other QBs were). According to camp reports, he isn't getting many reps in practice, either, however.

It's funny I mentioned Cardale on here before the draft, not after, and was criticized for it. Now some news comes out about QB's in training camp and all the experts come out of the woodwork. Call it what you want.
The end result will be what matters. And the rest of this stuff is bullshit.

That Mac drafted a guy and is handling him the way he deems appropriate, under his particular circumstances, and is different from what the media says it should be, it's now an automatic fuck up. "A disaster". Now the media and the couch experts get to define how things should be, cause they think they smell blood in the air

This Hackenberg bs is the new story now. It's an opportunity for the media to start their controversy as soon as Petty showed improvement, and Geno was obviously not good enough to start.

The catch word now is 'developmental'. And a second rd. pick should not be used for a developmental QB. Except in reality they're all developmental players, and where they're picked is just as risky no matter what spot they were in.

You could wait a generation for a blue chip QB to fall in your lap, maybe. Or you could be pro-active, think outside the box, and not worry about
how others define things for you, and think how you should do things.

There were tweets coming out of OTA's that Petty sucked and was lost and people believed it. Nobody knows what will happen with him either, but it's obvious that the reports coming via tweets about him were essentially trash.

Hackenberg wasn't drafted to play this year. He was drafted for the coaching staff to teach him how to pass consistently. In Macs mind if they can do that they have a franchise QB. Do you think that's worth a 2nd?

You're right......that's the bottom line......hopefully we'll never again be picking at the top of the draft. We'll never get a shot at an 'NFL Ready' QB coming out. Our only options are 'projects' such as Geno, Petty, Hack, etc. Gotta give it time.

Yes you can. The guy coached him. If he knew what many posters think Hack will be, and how simple it will be to fix all his problems, he would have picked him for sure to back up the over paid starter they have.
To believe otherwise is silly, the guy recruited and coached him. He knew that Hack would be too hard to fix, if he can even be fixed.

But, But, But, Hack needs time to be coddled because of his easy fixes, and will be the future of the Jets if we give him plenty of time. (Sarcasm)
I agree, get out there and play as much as you can. All this "fixing him " bullcrap is dumb. Just a bunch of talk. You can either play at a high level, or you can't. Let's find out, instead of wasting a 2nd round pick on the junk, project player. You do not waste 2nd round picks on project players.
Atleast you understand, not many on here do. They are stuck in dream land, instead of seeing the truth.
Mac screwed up, and Hack benefitted from it. The New York Jets sure didn't, and never will. Hack will never be a quality starter, according to his play at Penn State. The proof is in the pudding. The front office screwed up on him.

Nacho has already proved he is a turnover machine. He is continuing that in Denver as well. His strongest attribute is just Experience. Not good experience, just experience. He is still a joke.

I don't think any of this is true.
Look at his play in college.
If his IQ is so big, why was his play so stupid. His choices to throw to a particular receiver at a given time, prove he isn't too smart.
He obviously can't read a defense, or his turnovers wouldn't have been so regular.he appears to be a "measurable type", his actual play on the field doesn't measure up.
    Vernon Gholston part deux!!!
At first, I was on the Macc wagon. Now I'm not so sure. If he is so wonderful at picking college players, look at his past 2 drafts, and tell me what he passed on, and compare them to what he has picked.
Leonard Williams is the only one who has lived up to his draft position. He fell in to Macc's lap I might add.
    I guess we will see.

Jets fans... Jumping to tons of conclusions before a player has even played a preseason game? Blasphemy.

It's extremely telling that a lot of you dopes whom are writing off Hackenberg before he's shown us anything good or bad on the pro level, are the same morons that support Geno. Hmmmm.

    I don't get it.
In some posts you say all Hack needs are simple fixes, that Gailey is gonna fix in the offseason. (They had one offseason to fix him, and obviously they didn't)
In other posts you act like its a complicated thing to get Hack ready to be a NFL QB.
Hack shouldn't be on this team for a 2nd round pick with all that's wrong with him. From what I'm reading about Hack, and what Penn State games I have went back and watched, shows he is a Mark Sanchez/Geno Smith mix, but with a highly measurables physicality.
    Vernon Gholston part deux!!!
Your posts are becoming more and more of a joke. When Hack proves to you what he is, are you gonna defend him as much as you did Nacho?

As a PSU fan, the offense (if you want to call it that) was quite pedestrian his last two years compared to what he ran his freshman year. That and he got coached up the wrong way those two years, from his foot in the gun to other various things. He also played behind an offensive line that was AWFUL. In fact I remember one play where it was Temple I believe...they rushed TWO GUYS...literally 3 seconds after the snap, HAckenburg was sacked somehow...5 guys couldn't block two guys...it was just an awful offensive experience.

Awesome post! Look at Macc's two drafts. Leonard, maybe Mauldin and Petty will become productive, maybe Lee will, Jenkins almost certainly will be a plug and play productive player, not much else except Peake and Shell (maybe).
As far as signings, Revis was over paid in my opinion. He is on the decline, not what he use to be.
Watkins at this point owned him in two games last season.
Revise signing was a necessary evil, but way overpaid. Gilchrist is so so.
Skrine is up and down, but I like him.
The Brandon Marshall deal was his best by far. Marshall made the Fitzpatrick signing look awesome, but the Fitz deal this year was crap. Way overpaid for his abilities. His true abilities may come into the full light this season, and our team may suffer for it. Instead of 10-6, we may end up 6-10. The Wilkerson deal, was ok, considering his stats and then his injury. Will didn't deserve to be the highest paid DE, even Wilk understood that, but he still got a massive payday. I hope our team runs the table on the rest of the NFL.
As much as I think the Hackenverg debacle is shit, still I would support him if it came to be, but I know it won't. I really want to watch the Jets in a Super Bowl before I die. I love the Jets, always have regardless of what their final win loss record is at the end of each season.
All this blind faith by others here pertaining to project players shows lack of football knowledge, especially drafting players.

It will inhibit our long term, just as trading picks away does. Stupid choice taking Hack so high in the draft. He could have been had much later in the draft.

His first year he had Allen Robinson as a security blanket, much like Fitz had Brandon Marshall. Without Marshall, Fitz would have been very pedestrian, and would not have been a topic of discussion this year.
As far as the o-line at Penn St., I agree. But if they rush two against five, and Hack got sacked, he probably held the ball way too long and the sack was on him. He did that quite a few times in college. When he is decisive, he stares receivers down.
When he is indecisive, it gets much worse.
All these people who say his Football IQ is off the charts don't know what they are talking about. Hack was a joke of a pick in the 2nd, and shouldn't be on our team. We didn't need him, and we gave away a valued item to get him.

Think he held the ball too long? lol.

Listen I know people don't like the pick...I wasn't a fan of the pick neither, only because of what I saw the last two years here at PSU. But understanding the situation he had with a new coach and new philosophy, pourous offensive line, and lack of weapons...I choose to be optimistic. His IQ is more about football concepts, understanding defenses and route trees/concepts. Despite the awful defensive line, he only threw 6 interceptions last year. His issues stem from sloppy footwork and just a lack of touch on some throws. Hack has a STRONG arm...one that IF he puts it all together will make the Jets have a true downfield type passing attack. But that's a long way to go...this is his redshirt year...time for him to learn the playbook but more importantly, get back on track with his mechanics.
