I love #24. Has Revis always demanded a high/expensive contract? Yes, but then again he's arguably the greatest/most dominant Jets defensive player within Franchise history. I'm glad we landed Sheldon Richardson who turned into the NFL's defensive rookie of the year with the trade of Revis to Tampa Bay, but I absolutely hated seeing Revis in a N.E Patriots jersey. It just didn't feel right not having Revis here as a Jet while with our divisional rival. It actually sickened me. I loved the return of Revis last offseason & Revis himself makes our entire defensive unit so much better. It was horrible watching our pass defense during those two years in which Rex Ryan no longer had #24 as our #1 CB. Revis is still a top 3 NFL CB and graded so as a top 3 corner last season. Outside of two bad games Revis was Revis last year as an overall great cornerback. Really can't wait to see Revis perform this up-coming season, especially now that our front 7 finally has the speed & athletism needed in order to pressure the QB, which in return could have Revis down right feasting. We don't make the AFC Championship games back in 2009/2010 without Revis and we wouldn't have a chance of fielding a top two defense this up-coming season without Revis as our #1 CB either. #1.) Williams. #2.) Milliner. #3.) Skrine. #4.) McDougle. #5.) Burris. Without Revis, that's what our CB situation would look like. Would have questions marks everywhere but thankfully Revis solidifies our entire secondary into a CB unit with a boat load of potential. I'm sorry but Revis improves our entire defensive unit ten fold.
Speaking of Darrelle Revis, he's still a top 1-3 coverage corner in today's game. I'm not sure if everyone's aware, but Revis recorded the NFL's lowest completion percentage allowed (46.5%) during 2015 for passes thrown into his coverage. Can't wait to see Revis return to form with a healed wrist in order for him to play physical at the L.O.S once in press coverage.
Jeremy Kerley. David Nelson. Kellen Winslow. Jeff Cumberland. Stephen Hill. Santonio Holmes. Clyde Gates. Eric Decker (as a #1). Greg Salas. Josh Cribbs. Sallim Hakim. Jace Amaro (as a rookie). Percy Harvin. Chris Owusu. T.J Graham. Chris Ivory.
Same people that believe in Milliner are the same people who believed in Sanchez and are the same people who believed in Gholston.
sad...he's now showing us his best Kyle Wilson impression... be in perfect position just to NEVER see the ball coming because his damn neck don't turn.
Nice write up! Personally I can't wait for Revis to move to FS. As it is, they never pass his direction so we can go whole games and never see him. After he moves to FS he'll be in on almost every pass play, one way or another. Providing protection from over the top would make almost ANY DB dual lethal. Revis would be the Sheriff back there, getting his guys lined up, telling them what to look out for, a true coach playing his position. Plus he's a strong guy, great tackler who's not afraid of contact (opposite of Sherry Rhodes). Could be another 2-3 yrs before he makes the move, but he'll be the best FS in football. Can't wait!!!
We will have to rename the position PS because is nothing free regarding Mevi$. Paid Safety will be his new position. And yes he would be good back there.
