Best moment was when he threw that 52 yard td to Cotchery against the Fhins and my friend was texting me at the exact same time Brady blew his knee out...

The most entertaining game I ever attended was that game against the cardinals. I never witnessed a JEt offensive outburst like that. But in the end, he was a selfish prick who probably cost us a playoff birth that year.

What I remember more about that game, other than all the TD's was Eric Smith nearly decapitating Anquan Boldin with like 5 minutes left. Most violent helmet to helmet I think I've ever seen.........

Eric Smith was suspended one game for that hit too. If he was white, he would have only gotten a fine!

That was a pretty iffy year for me so I didn't watch much(almost any) Jets football. I was really non plussed how coming to the Jets was a power play on Farve's part. I don't think he really wanted to be here to be honest. To top it off it was a cheap shot on Pennington the way they pulled the rug out from under him. Honestly, I feel the same way about how Mattingly was let go rather than allowed to hang on as a player-coach or something for one more season. Ahem.... I was about to go on a Mattingly rant but this isn't the forum for it.

It was a classic roller coaster. Looked great one week, average another and crappy the next. Started out very well and just fizzled. Classic Jets fizzle. Oh well. Gambled and it didn't pay off.

lasting memory of that season is Chad Pennington in a Dolphins Uni beating us for the AFC East. Makes me sick.

My thoughts are the same as they were, one of the top two QBs of all time with Manning being the other.

    Rant away.

Mattingly should have his own pinned thread at the top of every online board about everything. #thereal23

Title - So what are your thoughts on Brett Favre NOW?

Poll Question - Did you like Brett Favre when he was on the Jets?

So what exactly are you after?

I didn't like Favre when he was on the Jets -- All I can remember about that season was the debacle in Seattle.

Still not happy about the way Chad was run out of town.

Regardless of how I feel about personalities, I don't like when former champions in leadership positions come to my team. I feel like, even if we win it all with them, it's slightly tainted. Slightly less special.

So I felt the same about Favre as Parcells. They could never be true Jets because THEIR favorite moments were unlikely to be Jets moments, even if we won it all.

Revis is in a whole other disgusting category. sigh.

Very likely. Favre was having an excellent year before his injury, but Mangini was an ultraconservative pussy of a coach who sucked the fun and spirit out of his team, and the defense was horrible, save for Revis. Also, the best receiver on the team was a way-past-his-prime Laveranues Coles. The fact that we started the season 8-3 despite all that was a testament to what Favre brought to the team. But when faced with better quality teams in the playoffs, Mangini would have done what he always did: A scared-stiff offensive plan of "run the ball all game and don't take any chances" and a defensive plan of "3 man rush that will give the opposing QB all of this game and next game to throw".

I was a Favre fan while he was with GB, so I was quite excited when Tanny made the move.
It was exciting for a bit but nothing was worse that season than Mangini's "gameplanning" / playcalling though. The threat of Favre's arm with Rex's defense / running game could've been awesome.
Unfortunately in the end, Favre just used the JETS like his bitch to further his ego fueled agenda, and I was cheering as the New Orleans D smashed him in the NFC championship game

If you happen to see a homeless guy in northeast FL wearing a JETS #4 jersey, it may be because I gave mine away in a bag of clothes to charity......

I have said it over and over. I will make that trade 100 out of 100 times. HOFer with a SB pedigree. Worth the risk. Love Chad Pennington but he didn't win a playoff game that year either.

I thought bringing Brett Favre to NY at that stage of his career was like hiring a hooker (not that I have first hand experience with that.) He would provide some cheap thrills but ultimately there was no championship left in him and would leave the team and fans disappointed for wasting 1 or 2 years (turned out to be be 1) to look for the franchise QB that was desperately needed (and still is.)
