Probably more to do with the press than reality. The press in the northeast part of the country (Boston, Philly, NY...) are always looking to take the negative angle on the home town teams because that is what the majority of the fans eat up, while west of the Mississippi the fans want their news more on the positive spin.
Thank you for proving my point. That may sound negative, but it's also the TRUTH. Do you suggest that a reporter ignore these things? The entire NFL knew Ellis had been kicked out of South Carolina by Spurrier who was never known as a disciplinarian for repeatedly failing drug tests. At the time he was drafted he was also facing felony assault charges - would it have also been negative to cite that FACT? Just "telling it like it is." Interesting you needed to go back five years to find something you thought helped your case.
Look, we both know that Cimini didn't call this kid a druggie because he felt compelled by his moral duty as a reporter to root out the truth. Cimini wrote that tweet knowing that it would get retweeted and shared and bring him exposure. People who do that kind of shit, and people who call babies ugly, are both d-bags in my opinion. I like sports because they're fun, and I'm sure you understand that because you seem like a fun guy, and so I like to read articles that are upbeat. It' just my preference. This is a really boring topic to debate any further.
No. we both don't know that. You "know" that because he called your baby ugly. I know he is a reporter reporting on a draft pick - that's his job. Upbeat articles are great, if that's all you want to read you need to go find a team surrounded by media homers, not honest reporting. BTW - That kid in your pic is definitely not one of the ugly ones.
Calling someone a "druggie" like that on Twitter right after he is drafted is not "reporting", it's being a douche. I'm shocked you don't know the difference.
What about intentionally asking and repeating inflammatory questions. To Geno: So what about the Fitz situation? What do you think about the Fitz situation? How do you feel about the Fitz situation? Yeah, now please tell me.....well reporters are just doing their jobs.... In any other venue it's clearly seen as trying to get under someone's skin but here in NY it's balanced; rationale BS like ..well he didn't answer the question.
I can't even believe this is a discussion honestly. The NY media is about as agenda-driven as you'll find. They don't report, they push. Clear as day too.
That's a dopey question; it's also one that is going to be asked by every reporter for every team in a similar situation. It is neither a display of bias nor negativity. Any player who would answer such a question is a dope but he should be ready for it.
