every time a period starts 5 on 5

"with no carryover penalties nor powerplays"

second part is unnecessary. You can't have a power play if there's no carryover penalty.

5 goals in the first, none after, unless you count the empty netter at the end

Martin Jones and the posts came up huge.

Game 6 in SJ on Sunday

    jones with 44 saves

seems they gave couture the #1 star, but Jones deserved it

Two straight games DeBoer dressed Wingels and Zubrus and then basically didn't use them. They played about 5 minutes apiece in each of the last two games.

Horrible move. Fatigue is a factor essentially using only ten forwards.

It showed tonight, with the Penguins generating many more chances.

5 games in and the Sharks still have not outplayed the Penguins in a game. Martin Jones should win the Conn Smythe even if the Pens win the Cup. Without him, the Sharks would have been swept. Having said all of that, the Sharks have to turn it on some time right? Why not Game 6? If they can win in convincing fashion, it would make for an epic Game 7 in Pittsburgh. I kept feeling the Pens would tie it up tonight, but Jones kept that 3-2 lead til the end. Great win. Final note: Did anyone see the prices for tonight's game? The cheapest seat I saw was a $1,500 nose bleed. Pens fans must be sick for multiple reasons tonight.

    yeah I meant to post

they mentioned it on the broadcast

1500 was the cheapest available gameday, with the most expensive being 10,000

I also saw an article somewhere about the prices, with the guy saying he was half-hoping for a Game 7 to see how high the prices would go for that.

Consol holds 18,000 and change. There were more fans in the streets outside cheering than inside the arena.

That was... frustrating. Jones is standing on his head.

Goes to show you how good a team can be with solid goaltending throughout.

Did Murray even win 1 regular season game? And now he's a Cup champion and goes down in Pens history. Wild.

Pretty one-sided series made competitive by Jones who was incredible.

Pretty weak that Crosby won the Conn Smythe. How NBA-ish to just give it to the star.

Murray was much more deserving IMO.

I don't get all the Murray love. He was average for most of the playoffs. Stole a game from the Caps, but the Pens team D in front of him did most of the work. The other side of the ice saw most of the action in most of the Pens games. Besides the Rangers series, I feel the Capitals, Lightning, and Sharks all got better goaltending. Not Murray's fault. He can only defend what comes his way, but he was not the main reason. So much so, that he was benched in the ECF. Kessel should have won the Conn Smythe. His HBK line was unstoppable. Crosby finished with a -2 for the playoffs. What an MVP!

Something just clicked for the Pens. It is what it is. Mike Sullivan deserves most of the credit, as does GM Jim Rutherford. Total team effort.

I just dont think they get anywhere close to where they got to with Fleury in net. Probably wouldn't have even gotten by Washington. I guess I could say they wouldn't have gotten there without Crosby either , but Murray was the difference for me the entire way.

He never got rattled after a goal , and even when he got the hook in the TB series , he came back with a vengeance.

I agree though Kessel would've been a better choice than Sid. Did he really finish with a -2? Wow didnt realize that. That might be an alltime low for a CS winner.

    This was an odd series.
None of the Canadian teams made the playoffs and all of the original six teams were eliminated in the first round.
    Must b Global Warming.

Anyway, Kudos to the Penguins !

I thought Crosby deserved it. He was making things happen the entire time and shutting others down as well. Jones was immense for San Jose. Murray was good and bad, his good was outstanding but he let in quite a few softies that probably cost him votes. Kessel would also have been very deserving.

It's been a nervous few months but absolutely stoked. Really felt we were the better team this series but it's so difficult, things can change in an instant. Now if only my other teams could pull through although I don't like the chances. Jets are the Jets and then I support the Kings in the NBA...

gutless Sharks choking at home again, what else is new?

    team has no heart

No surprise to me. I thought Penguins would beat the Sharks despite the Penguins having basically nothing behind Letang on the blue line because the Sharks are the Sharks.

good win for the Penguins, congrats highflyer

I don't think the Sharks past applies here. They played hard but just couldn't keep up. The Pens were incredible this series.

I hate the Pens and I was thoroughly impressed at how they dominated.

No doubt the Sharks were pathetic, but a lot of the credit does go to the Pens. They played better, coached better, game planned better, the only thing the Sharks did better was goal tend. Somehow that got it to 6 games. Martin Jones deserved the Conn Smythe over Crosby too. The Sharks do deserve criticism though because I think they could have adjusted more or tried new things. They pretty much did the same thing for 6 games.
