I think you both right actually IMO, Fitz doesn't want to move anymore (his wife probably), so he would like to play for Jets. But he would like also to get a higher last paycheck. His problem is that he really has no leverage. There is no other team offering anything close, and Jets actually don't need him that badly. I think this sudden leakage is the last attempt to squeeze a little extra before caving in.
Maybe. Also Kubiak's offense is built around a power run game and play action passing. Fitz would struggle in that offense, he works better in a spread with possession receivers.
and that is exactly why the jets would be fools to give him 12 million dollars. I honestly wouldn't be willing to give him more than 8 at this point even if there would be a mutiny. he really just isn't a game changer and last year is probably more of an aberration than the norm. someone else was talking about mac maybe wants to get reps for his future guys especially if he doesn't think the jets are a superbowl contender, I don't agree with that. this is still an older team with a bunch of veterans that wont be around forever, I think he wants to build but shouldn't pass up an opportunity to get to the playoffs. where as we have seen just about anything can happen.
Funny how so many people on here use the term "genobots" because one poster used that term. Very ironic, makes you all the "bots" for repeating the same ridiculous, tired, and not funny term.
Perhaps we should go into the geneology of the term "Genobot". It originated with the immortal Tim Tebow and his ill fated stay with us. His followers swarmed and for the most part repeated the same tired platitudes that they always used to justify Tebow's existence as an NFL Qb. Hence the term "Tebot" was born. Fortunately for us, Tebow's stay was a short one and he moved on along with his legion of drones. The Tebot infestation had ended. Fast forward to Geno Smith. Again, a marginal Qb talent graces our organization and with him came his legion of Genobots who of course, defend him at every opportunity and hijack threads repeatedly to make their point. Ironically, its always the marginal Qbs that seem to generate the most rabid followers. They spout the same ridiculous, tired and unfunny logic as to why Geno should start, why Geno shouldn't have had his jaw broken, why Geno threw so many interceptions, and on and on and on...
exactly... 12M is pure lunacy. not with no other suitors and Hoyer getting 2M recently. i stand hard at 4-6M and if he doesnt want it he can kick rocks. he needs us alot more then we need him. given we have hackenberg and petty im not convinced bringing fitz back is even the right move. i think you need to see what you have in petty sooner rather then later so that in a year or 2 hackenberg can get his shot with having a good idea of what petty is already. going somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7 with Fitz to me isnt worth spending big dollars on. i'd rather live with a 5-11 to 8-8 type season, get a better pick and develop some young guys.
That Geno bot shit is stupid. There is one person on here that goes overboard, besides him the general consensus tends to acknowledge that Geno has sucked, the Tebow fans NEVER acknowledged that Tebow was trash and they thought he was a good QB and all his problems were the fault of everybody and everything else but him. The people that support Geno acknowledges his faults but also acknowledges other factors that were out of his control as well.
except, other than 007, the people being called "genobots" have all been on this board longer than geno has been on the jets.
