Enjoy. Peter King may be a Pats fan but his site is still a lot of fun to read. And he didn't write this article. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/05/06/...ts-quarterback-private-workout-nfl-draft-2016
Great article. Reading about the secret workout really tells you a lot about how our Front Office has expertly dealt with the NY Media.
Was just coming here to post this. Some great insider info like most of the articles on that site. Apparently they were from reading the piece.
Don often types before he thinks or reads or comes up with a profound point or intelligent argument or...
They were lol Did you read the article? Houston, Philly, Buffalo, Cleveland, Washington, and Dallas. He also had a private workout with Philly just as he did with us.
Well Houston did pass on him, Philly probably looked at him before they made the big trade up and Buffalo the piece said didn't want to use a 2nd rounder on him. But the other three teams could well have taken him, Jerry was sure looking for a QB left and right during the draft.
I get excited the more I find out about this kid, but then again I get excited about every QB they drafted not named Sanchez or Smith.
I was excited about both of them, Marks faded after season 3, Geno after about game 6. Things could change with Geno, time will tell. I still have hope for him, but not much expectation.
Houston gave big money to Brock Osweiler. Wouldn't have made sense for them to draft Hack, at least in the first couple of rounds.
Somebody was going to take Hackenberg before the 4th round, the only real question was who. I think the Patriots were very likely to take him and sit him behind Brady for a couple of seasons. I think the Browns and the Texans were both candidates to take him earlier than expected.
McNair has BOB and Rick Smith in a win now clock they needed to go for the big move in Brock who made more sense for them than Hackenberg.
I don't really get the Pats fear other than the O'Brien connection. Unless they'd completely soured on Garappolo (and if they had why not sign a vet backup once Brady's suspension got upheld?), I wouldn't see them using a first or second-day pick on a third-stringer. The Texans bypassed their chance to take him. We didn't trade...we were slotted at 51 to begin with.
The Texans bypassed him in their 1st 2 rounds, but one cannot say that they bypassed their chance to take him. They had just signed Osweiler to a huge contract. Supposedly, their GM is under pressure to "win now." Thus they weren't going to draft a QB in the 1st 2 rounds, but they could have easily taken him in the 3rd round before the Jets had a chance to take him.
