Outside of it being baseball season, the months between the draft and the preseason are my least favorite of the year. I thought I'd start some discussion threads to pass the time this year.

What players from the past decade or so do you think are destined for the Jets Ring of Honor? I think you can make good cases for Mangold, Brick, Harris and Revis. Each has been a staple of the team for 8+ years and been a leader at some point, 24 and 74 may even get retired. It's actually a surprisingly good long term core for a team that's made such little playoff noise over their tenures. Chad? Laveraneus Coles is another good one. I wonder if they'd even consider a guy like Thomas Jones with only 3 years, as good as they were.

As far as Hall of Fame, I'd say Revis is a lock and Mangold is gonna depend on the other centers up for induction at the time. Not sure we've pumped out many other candidates this millennium. Could explain the lack of VLTs .

    Anyone else?

I would say Mangold and Brick are locks for the Ring of Honor because of their importance and reliability on the team since 2006.

Harris and Revis (since he left the team and had contract drama) are probable.

Revis is a lock first ballot hall of famer. Mangold has a shot as the best center in the league over the last decade. The other two aren't HOF material.

    IMO, of course.

Mangold and Revis are the only two Hall of Famers, IMO. Revis is one of the best cornerbacks ever. Mangold has been one of the two or three best centers in the league for a very long time.

I don't really a give a fuck about the Jets ring of honor, but I guess all four of the guys you mentioned would get the nod.

He has a good shot IMO. He might have hurt his chances by going to the Patriots in his last season, but he did virtually nothing for them. 72.5 sacks as a Jets and one of my favorite players to watch throughout his tenure here.

Revis will get in by default being a NFL Hall of Famer. Mangold and Brick should certainly get in to our Ring of Honor.

There could be a bit of a logjam at linebacker, with David Harris being perhaps behind Mo Lewis. I can't comment on him too much as I didn't see him play too much, but I know he was a good player for us.

He'd probably make the all-2000's team as starter. Don't think Farve was here long enough to earn it.

What would your Aughts Jets team be?

Revis had ONE GOOD YEAR (2010) where he shut down the whos-who of top NFL WRs. One. Just one. Not two, just one.

Since then he's spent more time demanding Billions of (your) dollars, recovering from injury, playing in the 'wrong' system, and getting beat like a red-headed step child (ruining our 2015) in the last game he played.

Revis needs to be cut the instant Maccagnan drafts one more hi level DB.

The sooner the better, and god help me if I have to look up and see 24 hanging from the rafters.

    Hmmm, let's see.

    7x pro bowler
    4x first team all pro
    Super Bowl champion

(And his historically great year was 2009, as if your post couldn't be more stupid and wrong)

I am thinking that things would be by decade (2000-2010 & 2010-2020). I do not think we would have an all-Jets 2006-2016 Ring of Honor

    Our best players since 2000:

    Kevin Mawae OC
    Sean Ellis DT
    Jumbo Elliot LT
    Darelle Revis CB
    Jason Fabini LT
    D.Brickshaw Fergeson LT
    Nick Mangold OC
    Thomas Jones RB
    Richie Anderson FB
    Laverneous Coles WR
    Brett Favre QB
    Ladanian Tomlinson RB
    John Abraham OLB
    Vinny Testeverde QB
    Muhammad Wilkerson DE
    Brandon Marshall WR
    Eric Decker WR
    Damien Woody RT
    Bart Scott ILB
    Bryan Thomas OLB
    Calvin Pryor FS

That's just off the top of my head, I am sure I am missing some players.

Watch the game against Arizona where Boldin got his face smashed and say that again.

    whaaat? No Quincy Carter? smh

I know he was injured a lot but from a talent perspective, Kris Jenkins was beastly.

That was a great game, but he wasn't better then Fitz last season. Doesn't outweigh Fitz breaking the TD record and Fitz playing more consistent then Favre.
