Looks like the one Buffalo game he actually played well in... 27-20 win his rookie year I think? They wore green on green in the 3 interception disaster. I remember because they tried to have TJ Graham fucking hide in the endzone on a kickoff.

It's a lot funnier in hindsight. The best part about it is you know Rex brought this up in one of the coaches meetings. "Guys, I've got a play, but we gotta wear green pants..."

First, I don't think he is a natural accurate passer to begin with which is OK. Most strong arm guys aren't; Rodgers is a rarity. Second, I don't believe he has "big time" mechanics issues at least not the type that takes sitting out a year to address. I believe after constantly getting his brains beat in he got lazy with his mechanics at times. This is in addition to him not being comfortable with what his offensive coaches after O'brien were asking him to do. Call me crazy, but I don't foresee him getting hit at the same rate behind our o-line as he was at PSU, the last 2 years. If he does, mechanics on short throws would be the least of our worries. Jordan Palmer said it best after his Pro Day. When you are a college QB, working on your mechanics takes up such a small piece of the pie that is your day to day routine, it's hard to get consistent at it. However, now when football becomes your job, you have a lot more time in the day to work at it, especially if you are willing to put in the work. Hack seems like the type to put in that work. He has been working 6 days a week at it since his last game at PSU.

He's definitely not a natural accurate passer, but I think he does need to fix anything that was a major issue at PSU before being named starter [which is what is happening now so he's on track]. A full season may not be required, but give him at least half to get acclimated to the speed of the NFL before he has to go on the field IMO. Footwork and mechanics at that point should be instilled and in case he does get blitzed, he won't revert back to the bad habits back at Penn State.

Pro days are overrated and bad habits die hard.

He's been working extensively on his mechanics for the past 4 months or so. At the combine he couldn't hit the side of a barn, but at his pro day a few months later he was said to look incredibly sharp and accurate. There's a decent shot that his mechanics will be fixed by the time we get far into the preseason.

    Wait whut?

That was my point and I got jumped for it.

Fix him and he could be a stud.

If they can't fix him, then it really is an issue.

His dad has been coaching him since he 5 on throwing mechanics.

I doubt it's his delivery. Seems like everything I have read points to footwork.

he's posturing to try and get a scrap of value in a geno trade imo. I doubt he ever gets anything more than a used jock strap or two though.

Yeah if he's going to have his mechanics reworked his only reps should come in practice. In a game situation he will focus more on getting the ball to the target and he'll revert back to old habits. The good thing is we have really good coaching to handle this.

if you look at that video closely you can see his biggest problem which is stepping up in the pocket.

Every single one of those throws was off his back foot.

One of the articles I read talks about this very thing (lack of involvement of his hips and core).

And that's what I like about this kid. I really don't think it's going to take a great deal to fix his mechanics...or rather should I say time. The difference between Jan 2., his last playing date, the combine to his pro-day is dramatic and amazing. The progress he made is astounding...more importantly...the STEPS he took to get it done. It takes a tremendous amount of drive, discipline & maturity to move himself out to the West Coast for 4 months to live and train. And he didn't just shack up with Palmer...he rented his own house down the block. THAT is impressive. If Manziel had HALF this kid's maturity & drive he's still be in Cleveland tearing it up.

No, I, optimistically, think the Jets may have finally found a guy. GOD I love Spring optimism.... lol!!!!
