Who are the players you'd like the Jets to look at for days 2 and 3? Here's mine, by position, not necessarily in order. QB Conner Cook - Michigan State. Christian Hackenberg - Penn State. Cardale Jones - Ohio State. Dak Prescott - Mississippi State. Kevin Hogan - Stanford. Nate Sudfield - Indiana. Yes I know I listed a lot of QB's and no real surprises. The fact is all the remaining QB's have big question marks and big strengths. AKA they're all flawed currently but all, in my opinion, potentially fixable. RB Derrick Henry - Alabama (the least likely to end up as a Jet, at least without them trading up.) Devonte Booker - Utah, one of my favorite RB's in the draft as a 2nd day selection. C.J. Prosise - Notre Dame - Has fumble issues but he's explosive. Jonathan Williams - Arkansas. Aaron Green - TCU (late round) DJ Foster - Arizona State. Last two are primarly explosive kick returners change of pace backs with explosion, imho. WR Michael Thomas - Ohio State. Pharoh Cooper - South Carolina (really like this guy for a top off the defense receiver). Rashad Higgins - Colorado State. Leonte Carroo - Rutgers. Kenny Lawler - California. Trevor Davis - California. Cody Core - Ole Miss. Jakeem Grant - Texas Tech (udfa) very small, very fast, did I say very small? (5-6). Mostly special teams kick return, too small for a receiver but did I mention he's very fast and very small (gets lost behind blockers) but would break easily. TE Hunter Henry - Arkansas (probably gone by the time the Jets pick). Nick Vannett - Ohio State Jerrell Adams - South Carolina (I really like this kid 6'5 4.64) but wouldn't take him earlier than the 3rd. and would prefer the 4th, but he probably won't get that far down. Bryce Williams - East Carolina. OG Cody Whitehair - Kansas State. Joe Dahl - Washington State. Spencer Durango - Baylor (my favorite pick that is likely to be there after the 3rd., he's been falling, not sure why but I'll take tape over measurable here.) OT Jason Spriggs - Indiana. Le' Raven Clark - Texas Tech (I really like this kid). Shon Coleman - Auburn , another one I really like. Jerald Hawkins - LSU, and yet another one I really like the potential of. Willie Beavers - Western Michigan. John Theus - Georgia. 4 of these guys I really like a lot as developmental OT's, Clark, Coleman and Beavers being the most likely LT's. OC NIck Martin - Notre Dame Evan Boehm - Missouri...I really really like this kid, he's not the modern athletic center, but he's rock solid and tough and likely to be available day 3 in the 4th. DT Jarren Reed - Alabama. DJ Reader - Clemson I'm not listing many DL because the Jets are so deep on DL. DE /OLB Kevin Dodd - Clemson. Noah Spence - Eastern Kentucky. Shallique Calhoun - Michigan State. Emmanuel Ogbah - Oklahoma State Shawn Oakman - Baylor Pass rush needed. OLB Myles Jack - UCLA (depending on the real medical reports) Jaylon Smith - Notre Dame see Jack. Su'a Cravens - Southern California (I really love this kid, kind of redundant with Lee but better ball skills and higher motor, I like him better) Jordan Jenkins - Georgia. Eric STriker - Oklahoma Dadi Lhomme Nicolas - Virginia Tech. Victor Ochi - Stony Brook ILB Reggie Ragland - Alabama. Tyler Matakevich - Temple Scooby Wright III - Arizona. Dominque Alexander - Oklahoma S Vonn Bell - Ohio state (love his coverage and ball skills). Jeremy Cash - Duke. Justin Simmons - Boston College. Not a lot of safeties listed, only ones I REALLY like due to Safety not being a big need. CB McKenzie Alexander - Clemson. Kendall Fuller - Virginia Tech. Zack Sanchez - Oklahoma. Fabian Moreau - UCLA. this is a sleeper pick for me who's really fallen down boards due to injury imho. He's an ideal guy to take late in the draft or as a UDFA. he's fallen off of a lot of prospect ranking sites, but he's a guy I really like the potential of. (note, he may have dropped out of draft, not sure). Not a lot of CB's I'm high on.
I like Sudfeld as a 7th round/future practice squad guy. He has good size, let's see if we can convert him from a spread offense. I like Shilique Calhoun as a pass rusher, but I don't think he would be there in the 3rd round. If Hunter Henry is somehow still there in the 2nd round, we should run to the podium with that.
It's gonna be interesting to see if he picks a QB at some point. If he doesn't it may mean he's very high on Petty. Who knows? If that's his thinking I'd like him to take a stab at Jaylon Smith or maybe Miles Jack if either drops to day three. It'll be interesting to see if Smith is picked at all based on the medical prognosis. I hope so for his sake
I thought Jaylon Smith's injury wasn't anything serious, but more that he'll miss this upcoming season.
At the Combine Re-check medical there was still signs that there was a lack of some nerve regeneration still. I think. It's serious.
Okay, editing this down for day 3. This list is highly pruned down. RB Devonte Booker - Utah, one of my favorite RB's in the draft as a 2nd day selection. Aaron Green - TCU (late round) DJ Foster - Arizona State. Last two are primarly explosive kick returners change of pace backs with explosion, imho. ILB Tyler Matakevich - Temple Scooby Wright III - Arizona. Dominque Alexander - Oklahoma S Jeremy Cash - Duke. CB Zack Sanchez - Oklahoma. 4th rounder: Jerald Hawkins, Connor McGovern, Vadel Alexander, Maybe Tom Hackett, since we are so desperate for a punter!
Tyler Ervin would be a decent guy to target. IMO he's going to be an above average kick return. Hackett should be taken if we get the chance. But most punters will be an upgrade over Quigley Them and Spencer Drango and Scooby Wright are the only other guys left that I would be really satisfied with.
Kyle Murphy and Caleb benonach are both interesting RT prospects, maybe even Joe Haeg. Murphy in particular, gives us the best future OT potential imo. That would be my ideal 4th. In the 7th I'm actually hoping the punter Hackett from Utah is there. Would even consider moving a little up for him.
I just have no confidence that we will make a good pick I like McGovern. that would be a consolation prize.
I'd like to see an OL prospect, preferrably at LT, but anywehre along the line is good. Christian Westerman looks like he'd had a bit of a fall. I know they're well set at RB, but value is really there right now. Paul Perkins would be a steal and there's also Jordan Howard and Kenneth Dixon. Wouldn't complain if the pick was one of them. Jerrell Adams would be a nice choice and Duarte could be a meaningful move TE. Wouldn't have an issue with a WR either CB would make sense too, of course I'm really tired of defensive linemen, but Andrew Billings is an NT projected to go a lot higher and would seem to be a great value. To take a total shot in the dark at their pick here just for the hell of it, I'll guess that OT from Southern Miss they had in for a visit. I think they want to add more offensive linemen
RB - Jonathan Williams Arkansas WR-Rashard Higgins Colorado State TE- Jerell Adams South Carolina OT- Willie Beavers Western Michigan, Alex Lewis OT Nebraska OG- Vadal Alexander LSU NT- Andrew Billings NT Baylor OLB- Alex McAllister Florida CB- Rashard Robinson CB LSU
