I have one trade I think is reasonable and would benefit us if we were able to pull off, but many of you wouldn't like it. Chicago was interested in Wilkerson, but the asking price was too high. I say trade Wilkerson to Chicago for picks 72, 106, & 185. We save $15M and get 2nd round pick value. Chicago has two 3rd round and two 4th round picks, so ask for their lower of each and recoup a 6th rounder. Draft could look something like this: Pick 20 - Leonard Floyd OLB Georgia Pick 51 - Xavien Howard CB Baylor Pick 72 - Carl Nassib DE Penn State Pick 83 - Caleb Benenoch OT UCLA Pick 106 - Nick Vannett TE Ohio State Pick 118 - Kolby Listenbee WR TCU Pick 157 - Nate Sudfield QB Indiana (Cut Smith and have Petty and Sudfield fight it out behind Fitz or Hoyer.) Pick 185 - Tyvis Powell FS Ohio State Pick 241 - Spencer Drango OG/OT Baylor Top four picks would all be starter by 2017 season. The rest would be quality depth.
Carl Nassib is a starter by 2017? Did we bench Richardson or Williams? Our backup qb will either be a guy that's not ready or a guy that's really really not ready?
Love Floyd at 20 but hate that Mo deal. I want him gone but not for that. If it's a 2nd rounder I would need it to be in the 35-45 pick range.
Football gods love to fuck with the Jets... 1. Mo not signed. 2. 2016 draft the best DL class in over a decade, teams can get a less expensive 1st round talent instead of trading for him. 3. Mo breaks his leg on the last game doesn't help his value. 4. Mo's outrages contract demands (JJ Money). Such a tricky situation because the team trading for him need to work out his deal with his agent and the compensation to the Jets needs to make sense. All the above road blocks are just comical tbh...
appreciate your effort but IMO your draft is too soft on the OL. As I have posted, the jets need to spend 2 of their top 4 picks on OL--it is that desperate.
Awesome thread idea. I wish this site had a section for draft related talk only so we could all make mock drafts and post them to discuss.
And don't even get me started on the Eagles clown show. First they overpay Bradford, hurting us in the Fitz negotiations. Then they give up the farm for Wentz, taking him and the Browns off the table and probably getting Lynch to go before 20.
Ever think maybe a Mo deal has already been worked out be kept hush hush (see Ryan Clady deal) because jets don't want people to know? It's possible. Mac isn't like an Gm we have had recently.
Carl Nassib (DE) is 6'7", 277 lbs and ran a 4.76 40 time and an unbelievable 1.62 10 yard time. I think he will put on more weight and be a cheap JJ Watt. The thoughts on Spencer Drango (OG/OT Baylor) is all over the board and a steal if available at 241. My backup plan would be either Ryker Mathews (OT BYU) or Alex Lewis (OT Nebraska). I totally agree the Eagle staff is filled with morons and the fucked the Jets and Broncos by giving those huge contracts, when they plan to draft a starting QB. You don't draft a guy #2 overall and not plan on starting him.
Just plain NO, NO , NO to this. Quoting Eric Davis on NFL live, "The Jets would have to be just plain STUPID" to let go a player that the team built their defense around. And everyone else on the show agreed with him, ad nauseam. Giving away a player who is at the prime of his career with tremendous upside for 3rd round picks is just plain absurd. I'd rather the Jets keep him for the 2016 season and cast their fate to the wind afterwards. Screw the other teams and their low ball offers. And screw the fans for thinking he's only worth a 3rd rounder.
First, he will cost at least $15M this year and he is not worth a million dollars a game. If you don't throw the ball, you don't warrant that much money. If we can't sign him long term for cheaper, we will lose him next year and get NOTHING. I'm suggesting 2nd round value picks, plus a $15M saving to sign other players to fill holes, like at QB, rather than spending $15 and getting NO picks. I would rather have let him walk this year and get a compensatory pick next year, before spending that much money.
While Mo is awesome, I think DE can be replaced. Maybe not at his level but we may find someone who can contribute. Plus we need improvement on OLB and pass rush. As much as I hate to see Mo go, getting some picks may benefit us in the near future.
I think Carl Nassib is under rated and could be a 3rd round steal if there. Carl Nassib, defensive end, Penn State 6-foot-7, 277 pounds 2015 stats: 15.5 sacks, 46 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, one interception, six forced fumbles Testing numbers: 4.76-second 40-yard dash, 1.62-second 10-yard split, 28.5-inch vertical jump, 9-foot, 6-inch broad jump, 4.37-second short shuttle, 7.27-second 3-cone drill, 21 bench reps of 225 pounds He need to get stronger and will once he's in the NFL. His speed off the ball is great and he is a guy who can get sacks, cause fumbles, and bat down balls.
