Honestly all of this Fitz stuff is driving me nuts. Make a commitment to sign him or don't. Here is my thought, one that I think is legitimate and will truly answer our QB questions. For all intensive purposes I wouldn't mind seeing Geno get KO'd in the locker room again because he never was and never will be a NFL quarterback. After watching and re-watching every single Baylor game I could find focusing on Petty, I believe (and this is only my opinion) that he could in deed become the franchise quarterback we have been longing for. He has a cannon for an arm, can move extremely well from the pocket, and is as accurate as any quarterback I have seen in a long long time. Would I love for him to get another year or two behind a smart quarterback like Fitz? Absolutely. However, I think Mac has done a great job at not giving him what he WANTS and only offering what he feels he DESERVES and would rather see any monies they were planning to give Fitz be used to shore up that offensive line and give whatever quarterback they put behind center a legitimate chance to make plays. I think a Mo trade is coming and will involve draft picks. Lets use the Fitz money and our draft to complete our needs on the O Line and some other offensive weapons to give the next QB a fair shot.

Would I like to see Geno start? Yes. But I want the Jets to win if that with or without Geno I'm fine with it. I haven't heard one thing where they say Petty ready.

These QBs are not exciting at all...But are they efficient and leadership worthy.
    Can Paxton Lynch be it:?

The problem is that from what I've heard, next year's QB draft class is much worse, so if Geno/Petty/ whoever else doesn't work out and the season is bad, it will be difficult to address the next year. I do tend to agree that Petty should get another year on the sidelines. I'd rather avoid Geno as well, so Fitz may be our only option to avoid regression on offense.

Seriously? It's amazing how hard they have gone towards making the NFL into a pass friendly league and the QB classes are getting progressively worse.

Colleges have been moving towards the spread option for a decade now. You can win with QB's who don't have all the goods at the NCAA level and it's easy to find one of those. In the NFL you still need to have all the goods and it really helps if you also know how a pro offense functions.

For all intensive purposes, I hope Petty is a franchise QB too!

I hate all of this lets throw Bryce Petty in there and see what he's got talk. If the worst case scenario comes true and we really go into next season with Geno/Petty/late round draft pick he has to earn his spot. Oh we spent a fourth on Bryce Petty we have to test him out. No, he has to study the playbook and learn how to play in the NFL.
If he beats out Geno in camp I'll root like hell for him but nothing he's done makes me think hes the better option than Geno.

The counter is always oh we've seen Geno suck for two years he's all done. That doesn't work when it's a completely different offense now.
I'm hopeful we resign Fitz. If that doesn't happen hopefully we trade for or draft a QB better than what we have but if it's Geno/Petty get ready for Geno.

the best QB in the league was pick 199. there are a handful of guys every draft that would be serviceable if given the chance. we just need to focus on building a team.

spot on! I love Bryce and i'm really high on him but i don;'t think he will beat out Geno in camp. I have no reason to think so. He's not the better option.... YET!
