Guys, I am really emotional right now (And a little drunk) but I just got to say, from a sports standpoint, this is the greatest I have felt since the Rangers winning that Cup in 1994. I am so proud to be an alum of this school. I have been a harsh critic of Jay Wright in the past, and I had serious doubts about him after the NC State Debacle. But when the scandals started flowing free (Syracuse [sorry Stokes], Louisville, and especially UNC), I began to realize: These are kids, and there are other things to being a good coach than only winning basketball games. And now, here I am, on top of the college basketball world. If I would have written a script, Villanova would have beaten UNC for the National Title on a buzzer beater. And look what just happened. Kind of ironic that the first NCAA tournament that takes place after my father, who paid for my tuition, passes away, Villanova wins it all. Forgive my blubbering... I'm a mess right now. After years of being told by junc that I should be satisfied with making the Sweet Sixteen, and an occasional Final Four appearance,, to actually win it all... Let me summarize with this:
Congrats. Maybe Oregon will get to win a championship in a sport that means something and I'll know what's it's like. (Le Sigh.)
Yeah! I was just saying that Michael Jordan's meme will become quite popular! Funny your team beat UNC and mine best Duke. That feels good!
Your team took a huge step this year towards dominating a second sport. You should be very proud. I'd be afraid to play you next year!
Congrats Hack. I'm a Temple alum and I'm proud of Villanova. I'm also a little jealous, because Jay Wright is a fantastic coach and pure class. My worry is that Temple is too content with just making the tournament most years and they are content with the mediocrity that is Fran Dunphy. The Temple program has the potential to be so much better than one and done in the tourney every year. But tonight is about the Cats. Congrats on winning the most legendary National Championship game ever.
My friend, tonight is about the Cats, the Big East AND The Big 5. If we didn't play teams like Temple, we wouldn't know what it is like to play in a hostile environment!
You got that right! My first Temple basketball game ever as a student was in December 2011, Temple vs. Nova at the Liacouras Center. We whooped you guys. Good times. Go Big 5!
My dad used to take to the Far West Classics in Portland to see John Chaney's teams. My God was that some great basketball. Ralph Miller had Gary Payton and there was always a couple of Big 5 universities. Now West Coast basketball sucks. Regionalism and limited exposure due to bad TV contracts has turn the Pac -12 into a laughing stock. Lute Olson was on local radio talking about how uncompetitive the area is. You guys have it so good out in the East!
Congrats Hackett...The crying girl with the flute can finally rest in peace. She is somewhere crying tears of joy tonight and blowing a saxophone of victory. This is good for the Big East and I like Wright so good for him. And lets not forget the immediate reaction for the great one right after the game...The crying meme lives forever...
Congrats Hackett--the good guys won. My brother graduated from Nova in 1982 so I have to deal with his bullshit--but at least Junc is whining like a little bitch somewhere. We'll get you next year. How dare you. _
