If you want Jerricho Cotchery to have a bigger role in the Jets offense this year...

Jerricho Cotchery can develop into a great reciever IMO... give him real playing time and he could be one of our future recievers (possibly #2 over McCareins)

He'll finally get a chance now that Chrebet retired.

Jerricho has potential to be a very decent 3rd WR...hopefully he gets his chances in 2006. Maybe 25-35 catches?

i remember all preseason when i acctually had hope for this season seeing cothery catch a lot of balls, and i thought he was finally gonna get a shot this year. but between injuries and herm refusing to put any new blood on the field until he was forced too he seemed to dissapear during the season. now i know preseason and regular season are diffrent but he deffinitly showed skill to me and i think he can be very good.

He certainly has good enough speed/moves...he returned a kickoff for a TD in 2004...

i've been clamoring for Jericho since he was a rookie,

and i'll reiterate for this thread's sake:

Cotchery broke many of Tory Holt's records at NC St; by no means am i saying he'll be the next Tory Holt -- far from it. But clearly, he has potential to be a good WR. The only knock is his speed, which he compensates for with good route-running, strength, tenacity, and excellent hands.

What's more, Philip Rivers (on numerous occasions) stated Cotchery was his favortie target while at State. There must have been a reason for that, right? Probably because Cotchery is a good WR.

Currently, he's a good #3 WR; but like some of you have said, he could propel himself into a solid #2 WR role; especially over someone like McCareins, who has underachieved.

With Cherbet's retirement, Cotchery should get more opportunities, and hopefully he'll prove himself.

    cheers

He ran a 4.6 coming out of college. I like him- he's get some catches this year.

this may be the single worst thread as far as grammar is concerned. well, at least since 51_51 left.....

"I knoe Cotchery has good size, but does he fast"

"he's get some catches this year."

actuully, thats only two things, but still

Actually, actually is spelled with only 1 U

Seriously though, I wouldn't expect Cotch to develop into a #2 guy, but I do think he can be quite a capable slot man. I wouldn't mind if he showed us something better, given JMac's lack of desire on too many plays, but I wouldn't count on it. He's got some mighty big shoes to fill in that slot though. I hope he makes us proud.

Honestly I want Cotchery in at #2 and McCarriens at #3. McCarriens is way too inconsitent for my tastes.
