I would say one thing ... cutting Brick w/o a viable option and throwing Petty to the wolves might be career suicide ...
I don't think Mac would ever do that. That said, with the way Brick played last season, playing Petty behind Brick might be career suicide. I think if they aren't able to upgrade the LT position, and they don't bring in an outside QB (Fitz, RG3, Hoyer or Foles), that Geno will be the sacrificial lamb and Petty won't see the field until the OL has been fixed if at all possible.
ditto. BUT, i'd rather have Fitz back if we're gonna have a hole at both tackle spots. Fitz got destroyed often last year but didn't get sacked often. He has the system mastered.
LMAOOOOOOOOOO!!! i'm not laughing at you, or your logic.. just laughing at how fucked up that sounds. "Oh yeah we got no 0-line...throw Geno back out there in fucked up circumstances AGAIN just to MAKE SURE he will never evolve or grow into his potential .... but dont you dare do that to Bryce Petty or ANYONE else.." .. sounds like he's being blatantly sabotaged ... GENOcide, if you will. .... Geno really gets NO love i feel bad for my boy. I pray he gets his chance and straight up BEAST it. Break Fitz's new records. He gets dogged like no other... #GenoLifeMatters
At the risk of sounding cold, I don't think Geno is in the Jets' plans going forward, and I think the ship has already sailed on his developing or evolving. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I just don't see it happening. At least Geno is mobile and tough. As you know, GMs don't owe any allegiance to players picked by their predecessor. If they play well, great, that's one less position they have to worry about, but if not, then they have no qualms about cutting bait with that player. OTOH, Mac has been very clear that they're not going to throw Petty to the wolves and are going to give him every chance to develop. If you were Mac or Bowles, would you put an inexperienced QB out there behind a shaky OL, particularly when you were high on that QB and thought he had a chance to develop? Wouldn't you go with the QB who had pretty much already shit the bed and was basically only still around because he was cheap?
Agreed, but only if Fitz accepts $7-$10 million per year. I wouldn't pay him anything over $10 million.
