Draft pick compensation. Per Shefter http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...s-latest-news-speculation-on-bears-tes-future
Pats trying so hard to recreate Hernandez/Gronk combo ... and still no deep threat for the Pats. Fine with me.
I've never been all that impressed with MartyB, he's a decent blocker and receiver but he is far from what the Pats had with their hand-picked murderer Hernandez.
Bennett is planning some kind of coup de etat when he doesn't get Enough balls thrown his way Just blow up
Paid a 4th and a 6th for him. Actually surprised the Bears got that much for him since he's near 30. but not going to argue.
Pats aren't stupid. Bennets a good player and off the field he wont murder any one. Two TE blocking edge rushers opens up their running game. Maybe this is why we keep our DL solid with our recent moves
Bennett is the perfect cancer to go cause havoc under Belicheat.....he still wants a new contract.....I doubt he gets a new one up there. Here is the last incident in Chicago last season........when Bennett is relegated to blocking, I hope he causes a mutiny Martellus Bennett - TE - Patriots The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears had "pervasive doubts" about Martellus Bennett's commitment. Per reporter Dan Wiederer, Bennett offered "minimal effort to conform to the unselfish and focus-driven culture" the Bears are trying to instill under coach John Fox. Wiederer also confirms Bennett's late season ribs injury, which landed him on injured reserve for four games, was essentially a sham. In the end, the sides' divorce boiled down to the fact that Bennett wanted a better contract and the Bears were dead set against it. So is life for a player in a league where teams monopolize the negotiating power with non-guaranteed deals. Related: Bears Source: Chicago Tribune Mar 17 - 9:40 PM
I'm not going to worry about this. He's late prime and injury-prone and discontented and not going to get a lot of money from the Pats. That's a recipe for "meh".
This isn't correct. The Patriots received the 6th in the deal. So it was a 6th AND Bennett for a 4th. Watching Jets fans bend over backwards trying to claim this wasn't a fairly big deal for the Patriots is comical. I can see the side of arguing the Jones deal was or was not a good one, but this one is all gravy. Red-zone offense with Gronk, Martellus, Edelman, Dion Lewis... matchup nightmares all over the place.
