We have a great goaltender. But that doesn't make every decent performance an elite performance just because of who he is. He did an decent job yesterday, but no way should he have left that first goal go in. He put himself out of position and got schooled.
Greenday, I dont want to argue with you because I agree with you that its a team game, all I'm saying is its alot easier to win when Hank plays his best
We have 12 soild forwards now with Staal, when Nash comes back, plus we kept Yandle, things are looking up
12? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Brassard, Zuc, and Miller are producing where we need them to. Kreider is lately but not like he should have earlier this season. I'm hoping a rested Nash can take advantage of opponents who aren't rested. Stepan is a choke artist. Hayes is hot and cold. Otherwise, meh. MacTruck is doing well, Klein and Girardi are good (Girardi doing much better than last year). Yandle is finally doing well. Boyle and Staal have been meh.
I wouldn't mind the deal and would feel good about a Cup run if I could trust Vigneault, who's completely lost his marbles this season. Benching Glass, benching Boyle for McIlrath, and swapping Yandle and M. Staal are such easy, obvious moves that would make the team so much better. The coach just doesn't seem interested in doing the right thing. That's the issue and it's beyond frustrating.
Staal to the Rangers is a good move. Did not cost too much. He has sucked in Carolina this year, but I think that is because the team sucks. No one to put around him. I think the Rangers have pieces to show Eric still has it.
Staal is only 31 I remember he was the one guy I wanted really bad like 4 years ago though...I hope he is productive for us. We barely gave up anything fornhim. Thank God no kids that are up went out and 1st rounders
Too much Sunday Funday for you... He's in a clear decline. It'll help that he'll have better players around him but still. Two seconds and an elite prospect? If we don't win the cup, everyone needs to be fired.
Rangers are nowhere without Lundqvist. What you're not recognizing is the guy shows up every time you NEED him. He can't be Jesus every game otherwise he'd be real Jesus and crashing at the Pope's house instead of playing for us
You know our Staal has sucked too so maybe this move lights a fire under his ass and they start one-upping eachother. Family competition never hurt anyone
Wtf is everyone's problem? I didn't say he sucks. I said he didn't have a great game like people want to insinuate. Every damn Rangers game, there are Rangers fans who praise Hank like he is God's gift to hockey, even if he had a bad game.
Lmao elite prospect my ass...he's no duclair Saarela is at least 3 years away, he's small, weak and injury prone. He's a small guy that loves battling in front of the net. He produces in Finnish league cause of it but he will get crushed in NHL. Duclair was a stud and I was so sad we gave him up. But no way Saarela is that...you know who is elite...Dano the guy Chicago gave up...Or Buchenivich on the Rangers. Lets avoid over reacting to this like HFboards. Most people overrate prospects like crazy there.
Pavel has potential. If Dano was elite he wouldn't have been traded twice, especially by a team like Chicago. Dano has work to do. They are saying Pavel might come over for the playoff run. Who knows though
Hurricanes season ticket holder here. Staal has not really sucked for Carolina this year. He is not putting up the points this year that he once did, but he is still a formidable 2 way player. He can play center or wing (he started the year on the wing with Jordan centering, which was not a smart move on Peters part) and should be a nice addition to the Rags. When motivated he can still be a big body, puck possession force in the offensive zone. I think the prospect of playing for a playoff team, which Carolina has not been in ages and having some solid line-mates (even playing on the top line - LW was a revolving door of meh) will light a nice fire under him. I truly believe this looming trade has been a big weight on his shoulder for some time now. I think the Rangers and their fans will be pleasantly surprised and think both sides got a fair deal and will be happy.
It's one of those trades where its good if we win the Cup, bad if we don't. Carolina got a lot in the trade, we got a good player that could help us win the Cup. Is it a good trade-off? I think its something that can't be determined right away. That depends on whether or not we win the Cup.
