He learned the basics of the tight end position his rookie year, and he was OK. At texas tech he was mostly a slot receiver, but for a guy having to transition to being a inline TE he did alright.

Nah man, I stopped him from fucking your girlfriend, and didn't think it was cool that he was trying to snake your woman. ;)

Seriously, I have no hatred for him personally, I just never thought he was a good prospect or what we needed. I watched a lot of tape of him. What I saw was a guy who was big, but soft, and who didn't block. I saw a guy who was stiff and clumsy looking, not athletic at all. I saw a guy who caught the ball within 5 yards of the LOS 95% of the time or more, and whose catches were never contested. He was always wide open. Hence he and his production were products of the pass-happy system employed there. Opposing teams covered the wideouts and left him open until he got downfield. If he had played at a school in a more pro style offense, his production would have been a fraction of what it was, and he probably wouldn't have been even a 4th round pick. He may have even have gone undrafted. He became highly ranked solely because he caught all those short wide open passes at or near the LOS in a spread offense.

I've never been able to figure out why he gets so much love or why people thought he was such a great prospect. He had a bunch of receptions in a pass happy offense where he was rarely covered. Heck, most any of us could have made those catches in that offense.

He had a decent rookie season, but nothing to get excited about. I didn't even hold that against him considering who is HC, QB and OC were. I just think he's too soft. IMO the Jets need a true two-way TE who can block as well as he can receive, and who is pretty darned good at both, if not excels.

I hear that Scott Chandler maybe coming here, makes sense Chan Gailey wants the whole Buffalo bills roster circa 2010. I think CJ Spiller maybe cut and wouldn't be surprised at all if be makes his way here too. I still hold faith that Jace can turn into a worthy draft pick. TE is one of the harder positions to play well immediately amd transition to in the NFL, think about Eifert this year. They both had similar numbers in their rookie seasons and Eifert had significantly the better QB.

    AMARO 38 rec 345 yards 2 TD
    EIFERT 39 rec 445 yards 2 TD

Eifert finally came on and beasted this year, obviously not the same prospect but Amaro can make a similar leap too. Jace is still pretty young at 23 Eifert 25 not saying he'll end up like eifert since he was a 1st and Jace was 2nd but in this offense the way we run the spread thats actually suits Amaros game cause thats the offense he ran at Texas Tech. The way we used Enunwa this year think Amaro in that same role next year. Im still holding faith because the transition is so hard. Look at Ebron and ASJ the other TEs in that class, they didnt exactly light the world on fire either this year and they actually played this year.

Keyshawns nephew would be a solid pick from the second round on.

It's the same thing every year on this board at draft time -WR WR WR. While the starting WRs are not young, WR is a team strength. Jeffery? That's a ridiculous concept on a team with Marshall and Decker. This team has three huge needs to fill. First, a true edge pass rusher. It's a good defense but it won't be great until it adds a pass rushing outside linebacker or DE. Second, the OL needs starters on the right side and eventual replacements for Ferguson and Mangold. Third, the QB of the future is.........? Fitz is a short term stop gap . Who knows about Petty. A QB needs to be drafted every year until a franchise QB is found. WR is wayyyyyy down the list.
