Williams may have gotten more recognition (not that he got neglected) if we didn't already have the Sons of Anarchy in Wilkerson, Harrison, and Richardson. Will be tough to pass over Peters.

I still like the Williams pick.

Players like these are the ones you build franchises on.

At least they used to be...

Yeah, it's not surprising that the post is giving credit to fans who understand the dirty work and the stuff that normally goes unnoticed because there are no stats for pushing the pocket and freeing up teammates, and then a bunch of Jets fans list the stats of another player. Nice.

Weren't the Jets interested in Peters during this past draft?

Revis got stiffed for DPOY in '09 so it's some other CBs turn to get stiffed for the rookie award.

So you are saying he is the second half defensive rookie of the year.

Yeah he looked real terrible in that secondary that kept Hopkins to 69 yards receiving and 134 yards passing on the day.

Defense pitched a shut out and Peters was a part of that.

Meanwhile our own Leonard Williams is watching the playoffs at home.

I honestly don't think Revis got stiffed and if Peters doesn't win it he's not getting stiffed either. The problem with the CB position is that it's probably the hardest to a) dominate, b) to be consistent at and c) to make enough plays to actually be in the "player of the year" consideration. Peters made a lot of plays but he wasn't consistent and he didn't dominate either. Leonard didn't make enough plays but that's hard to do from the 3-4, so naturally he's not going to win the award no matter what, just like LT's won't ever win rookie of the year, even if they're perfect. But at least he was consistent and he did dominate. Ronald Darby meanwhile was a better cover guy and didn't get beat as much, but he didn't make enough plays. So if Peters wins it it's just more proof that all you need to win this award are stats. And that's usually how it goes. None of those 70 year old beat writers that decide these things have any clue what they're talking about. You can't tell me they watch any film outside of their own team, at best so why do they get to decide? It's like the Pro Bowl voting by fans. Just let the coordinators decide.

And what does that have to do with anything?

I hear you over the 3-4 d-lineman not always having the 'stats', but I remember another 3-4 d-lineman winning it!
