About a month ago I was listening to Pat Kirwin on NFL radio and he also suggested getting rid of divisions. Just AFC and NFC with 16 teams in each conference. The top 7 records in the conference get in the playoffs, with the #1 team getting a BYE in the first round. You would play each of the other 15 teams in your conference once, with one crossover game per year against the other conference. Ties would be easier to break because you would have head to head results against every team. Every team would be playing the same conference schedule so nobody gets to play the Browns or the Jaguars twice ... Or the Goddamn Patriots for that matter. Sounds like a more fair system, but I think it would get boring pretty fast, playing the same schedule year after year except for the one NFC game. As much as it sucks sitting home with a 10-6 record, I think I'd still choose entertaining over fair.
Baseball's my favorite sport and I'm a die hard Yankees fan actually. I became a Yankees fan and a Jets fan at almost the exact same time as a sophomore/junior in high school ironically. I hate anything Seattle. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I hate that idea because I enjoy playing at every NFL stadium......I like how the system is now even though we were the ones to get screwed by it this season. We had our chances but didn't get it done ultimately....it is what it is The Pats will finally be back to normal very soon which should open up the AFC East for years to come.....no point in changing things up now after we just endured that Pats stranglehold for years
And he's doing all of that throwing a football around with no shirt on and wearing eye black in his driveway in Morristown
I'm not a fan of that idea either, I'm a West Coast guy and we play at both San Francisco and Arizona next year. Those are both drivable games for me assuming I move back to the US
Honestly, I hate Geno as much or even more than the next guy, but no. I don't think so. Our special teams, coaching and "vaunted defense" did....
Not really. It asks a question. Does not declare anything. And inside the thread I say no. It is interesting though. As someone else said if the Jets did beat the Raiders they would be 11-5 and no tiebreaker needed. etc. We have to try to laugh at the absurdity of how this all played out. At least I do so I don't cry.
I'd be against it because it would pretty much eliminate traditional rivalries, which I think is a big part of the game.
I only read the first post and...... So, you're going to start a thread to say the backup QB coming off the bench blew the JETS playoff chances after Fitz turns the ball over THREE times in the 4th qtr as they blow a game to a team with a losing record in a "win and in" game?!?! SERIOUSLY?! WTF?!? Go back to comic books....... I'm going to need a break from this site for awhile and yes, I think Geno sucks and was pissed the moment they called his name at the draft.......
We beat NE and Pittsburgh lost to NE. We have just as much right to be in as they do. Seems like bullshit to me that they get the tiebreaker because of the raiders game, where we went across the country into a tough environment and they hosted the Raiders who flew across the country. als0 - does this mean if we shat the bed in Dallas and lost to a terrible Cowboys team but beat Buffalo sunday we would've had the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh based on conference record? seems pretty stupid to me. I could see if we played the Steelers and lost to them. Or even I guess if their conference record was better than ours. But going to completely unrelated games to find the tiebreaker is stupid to me. Fuck, flipping a coin makes more sense to me. The NFL should adopt the MLB system and in instances like this, tied record/tied conference record, they should schedule an extra game Jets V. Steelers to get in.
Yes, that's absolutely correct. Pretty ridiculous but that's it I get this is the system they and I honestly don't know if there is a way they can fix it. How can they schedule an extra game? What if 3 teams tie?
just spitballing here for fun but they wouldn't even have to schedule a whole game. You could do something like the NCAA football overtime. Jets v. Steelers the following monday night, no clock, each team gets a shot from the 25 yard line until we have a tie breaking winner. 3 teams in a tie, yeah, idk my plan doesn't account for that haha
The entire playoffs is a joke. There is no reason teams with better records than those in the playoffs should be on the outside looking in. It happened to the Cardinals years ago at 11-5 and now it happened to us at 10-6. It's ridiculous. Plain and simple. The entire purpose of the playoffs is to bring the best teams in the league together to fight for a championship. We finished with the same record as the Packers and the Seahawks, yet here we are, watching from our couches. Bullshit. Houston doesn't belong there
houston belongs. not only did they kick the Jets ass but they won their division. I am a big believer in awarding teams for winning their division regardless of how difficult that was in any given year. You win your division you deserve the playoffs.
Idzik, boy did he fuck up 12 draft picks. The sad part was that there were people on here defending his picks.
