Hurts too much to think about what just happened, lemme say some stuff I think should be addressed this offseason: Free Agents: Muhammed Wilkerson Damon Harrison Bilal Powell Chris Ivory Ryan Fitzpatrick Calvin Pace Demario Davis Antonio Allen Leger Douzable Darrin Walls Stevan Ridley Willie Colon Erin Henderson Ryan Quigley Kenbrell Thompkins First off, I think they should find a way to resign Fitzpatrick. He didn't play his best today, but the dude broke the all time TD record for Jets QBs and looked like the most solid QB since Pennington/Testaverde. Next year, the Jets should develop Petty and groom him to possible be the starter in 2017 (the year after next year). Many people want Geno to be cut, but I think that's a mistake. Geno is costing this team pennies on his rookie contract and would service as a nice cheap backup QB. (Vets would cost more than Geno right now and be worse). Wilkerson is going to be expensive (not to mention he just broke a leg which make his situation murky). There's talks of franchise tag which I think would be wise. Wilkerson is extremely valuable and the Jets have the money to spend on him right now since they aren't paying a franchise QB. This probably means Damon Harrison is on his way out. Demario Davis, Ryan Quigley, Willie Colon, Stevan Ridley, and Calvin Pace should be on their way out. Demario has looked absolutely terrible, Quigley shouldn't be a pro punter, Colon is old and injured, Ridley has done nothing, and Pace is a grandpa and too slow. The jets need to draft young at OLB. The Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell situation will be interesting. Bilal certainly showed his playmaking ability in the last couple weeks and would be worth a cheap resign. Ivory will cost more to re-sign but it's a risky decision since he is so injury prone. Still,. the Ivory-Bilal duo may be tough to give up. The Jets should re-sign Antonio Allen (he was showing a ton of promise at S before Rex put him at CB in 2014). Draft Outlook: The Jets have needs at OL, OLB/DE, TE. The tight end position is a terrible mess (Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis should be gone), but at least Amaro will be back as an option and Decker and Marshall compensate for the deficiencies there. Quincy Enunwa also helps the offense forget about their TE problem. For this reason, i would consider looking for a TE late in the draft or exploring FA. The Jets should go OLB or OL in the first round. D'brickashaw is getting beat left and right, Breno Giacomini can hardly hold his own, Brian winters is still a liability, and Mangold is only getting older. Another option is going for a DE/OLB which they desperately need. The Jets need to get younger and faster a the LB position. Other positions they might want to draft are RB, FS. Drafting a RB really depends on if Ivory and/or Powell leave in Free Agency, but either way the Jets badly need a speed back and more importantly a returner (I'll explain more about CRO next). Marcus Gilchrist is servicable, but not great. I would invest in talent right now. Cromartie should not be back in 2016. Not only has he underperformed and played like an average CB (or even less), but he's getting payed elite CB money. Next year's Cap cost is too high and he will more than likely be a casualty unless he restructures. I think it's time for Marcus Williams to inherit the position or maybe even draft another CB.
Out of the FA list you posted, I want to keep - Muhammed Wilkerson Damon Harrison Bilal Powell Chris Ivory * Ryan Fitzpatrick Demario Davis * Antonio Allen * Leger Douzable Erin Henderson Kenbrell Thompkins Oh, and I'll pay for the team to let me clean out Milliner's locker.
I want to keep both Snacks and Wilkerson too but I think it's too expensive. Demario Davis is a crap player. Other than that, I agree.
Harrison and Ivory will be gone, Mo will be tagged (his trade value went away with the injury) , Sheldon will possibly be traded.
OL, LB and RB should be a priority. Can we tender Snack again? If Colon wants to come back on a vet minimum again I wouldn't be opposed to it.
Free Agents: Muhammed Wilkerson - Yes, injury complicates things a little bit Damon Harrison - Sure, but 2 down guy going to get offered the moon someplace Bilal Powell - Yes Chris Ivory - At the right price, injuries are a problem Ryan Fitzpatrick - Yea, 2 seasons and get Petty or whoever else we might bring in ready Calvin Pace - nope Demario Davis - nope, unless he wants to ride the bench and play specials Antonio Allen - yes Leger Douzable - yes Darrin Walls - yes/no, shouldn't cost anything but could be replaced by a CB that plays specials Stevan Ridley - no, just no Willie Colon - time to move on Erin Henderson - yes Ryan Quigley - Captain Shankopotomus, so no Kenbrell Thompkins - yes
Out of all of them I see the following coming back Wilkerson:Franchise Tag ,the leg injury is gonna make it a tough decision Fitz: Will def be back Powell:Back Allen: He's a good depth guy Harrison:I have a feeling we won't be able to keep both him and Wilk but one of them will still be here Ivory:I think we will bring him back and draft a RB in round 1 or two
Im not suggesting anything. Im saying what could happen. Snacks is going to recieve a crazy contract from a different team. 10 percent chance he's back here Sheldon could be facing additional punishment depending on his court case. So when he's up for a contract do you want the team to give him 10+ mil per year? So if Mac can get two 1st's for him , he might want to do it.
Valid points all around. Would hate to lose Sheldon but the circumstances that could arise make it difficult to hang on if someone is going to want to take him for such a high price.
Yeah I'm not saying we should just give him away, obviously. But all it takes is one team to make a decent offer. D-line would still be a major strength with Wilk and Williams and a FA signing. We finally need an above average pass rushing LB on this defense. Top priority for the offseason IMO.
Im very positive in assuming that Chris Ivory will be gone...He wants to get paid. Dallas is his home town, Jerry world will go after him
Ivory is a love/hate relationship. You love when he is on the field beasting out, you hate when he is on the sideline, which is half the time it seems.
