The Browns are done and hopefully we never have a game like that again. On a positive note is that Chad only threw for 108 yds.... but still at the end of the game we have a chance to tie it. These 3 weeks are the test for the season can Mangini: 1. Make the team forget about "the play" in Cleveland 2. Give NE a run for their money with 2 weeks to prepare 3. At least win 1 out of the next 2 to put is at 5-5... where most of us had them even if we beat the Browns. If I was Mangini I would start preparing for NE... show some something new... add a wrinkle especially on defense. It's been nearly 4 yrs since we beat the PATS.... I hope we're due
Ha, and people were talking about challenging for the division. That seems impossible now. The NE game might be Chad's last chance, if he has another stinker, I don't see how you don't move on. It might be the last time we see him in a Jets uniform, or in the NFL. This is going to be a huge game for a number of reasons. Go Jets.
Whos to say thats Chads due or die game. Everbody expects a Peyton Manning type of Qb to lead the jets. Thats never going to happen. Theres one Peyton Manning and unfurtunately his in Indy. Everybody forgets that what win championships is defense. Our D-line Stinks and thats the source of our problems. Thatsy why vilma looks mediocre because he cant get to the line because his d-line is getting pushed back into his face. Chad is a descent enough qb to lead us to the promise land. Ravens made it to the super bowl with who TRENT DILFER of all people. Qb should be the least of our worries right now. Lets get a D-line that can push up rather then fall back
OH im sorry. edited that. but even then Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. That makes two qb's that im sure pennington is better than.
with those defenses, Chad would have made those teams even better...he is by far better then both those QB's is trent dilfer and brad Johnson better then Peyton Manning? I think not...
There's no point giving Chad hypothetical credit. We had a monster defense in 2004 and he came up short. Dilfer at least made the most of his opportunity, I can't say the same for Chad. We had the league rushing Champion and a defense that held the Steelers down all game long, and Chad couldn't muster enough points to beat them. Advantage: Dilfer.
OK lets go back to 2004 and look at the stats for a minute and see why we lost that game. Just so you know Chad out-threw Ben in passing. Our league rushing champion only ran for 74 yards while grandpa Bettis ran for 101 yards and Ward led all receivers with 105 yards. So who had the better defense that game and that year. Easily the upper hand goes to the steelers. How you think they went that far with a rookie Qb. And talking about Chad last thing I remember he led the jets to field goal position in his last drive so Brian could make the field goal. Bonehead Herm decided to waste time rather then advancing the ball when we had time-outs remaining and our LEAGUE RUSHING CHAMPION capable of gaining some yards to make life a little easier for Brian. If anything Chad was the reason we should have won that game and pull one of the biggest upsets in recent Jets history. I wouldnt say Bettis rushing for 101 yards and Ward receiving 105 yards holding the steelers down all game long.
Did you watch that game? Chad didn't do anything all game long, you have to look beyond stats. If the rushing champion dissappears in the playoffs, then that just means running the ball isn't as important as everyone claims it is, so it becomes even more important to have a QB that can pass the ball. But on that last drive, you call gaining 0 yards a drive? iirc, we got an INT that was run back to that part of the field. We then did absolutely nothing on offense, and managed to actually lose yardage. If Chad had actually managed more than, what was it, a FG the entire game, we'd have won. Comparing Chad to Big Ben is a joke, that was his first playoff game, and apparently Chad should be happy being better than Ben in his first playoff game just barely? In case you didn't know, Ben led the Steelers to a SB win last year in his second year. A big time QB would win that game. Chad isn't a big time QB, and that's why I'd rather see what our options are. Chad hasn't progressed past what Big Ben was as a rookie in the playoffs, and Jets fans are happy about that? We really need to aspire to more.
I agree. And we definitely need 1 out of 2 of the next two, as it will be almost impossibe to run the tables from 4-6. At 4-6, we would likely finish 9-7 or worse. But at 5-5, we have a very good shot at 10-6.
A few... Green Bay at Jets 2002. Playoffs: Colts at Jets 2003. Playoffs: Jets at Chargers 2004. Chad's done plenty. And he's allready done more coming off all his injuries than people would have guessed. Why don't you focus on the defense. Put that brain to better use.
I think we have a good chance against both NE and Chicago to win and stay in the playoff hunt. The season never plays out as you think and there are always a bunch of unexpected wins and losses. Teams that start playing well in the second half are the teams that have a chance. I think that the Jets can pick up their game and surprise in the second half. Some reasons: 1. I think that the defense has improved a lot the last 2 weeks though the statistics do not show it. We have gotten better at the point of attack, but are still soft and out of position when opposing players get past it. I think that this will be improved over the next 2 weeks of practice. 2. The defense showed the ability to be more aggressive and effective in the fourth quarter Sunday. If they stay aggessive and blitz more the defense will come around. 3. I do not think that Chad is reinjured I just think his arm is tired. The bye comes at the perfect time for him to rest and recuperate and be on form for the second half. Also, the bye will allow Coles to heal and we get back Houston. I still believe we can stay in the hunt for the playoffs and I think we will win one of the games at NE or Chicago. From 5-5 we have the schedule to make a run and finish 10-6. It might miss the playoffs but I think it is a very possible record.
It's obvious from all of your posts that you hate Chad, so I have to take you with a grain of salt. Chad played those playoffs with a throwing shoulder that needed surgery, while the biggest part of our "monster defense" sat out, not wanting to jeporadize his career and future earnings. And we twice got into FG range to win the game, but I guess it's Chad's fault that Brien missed twice.
Its getting old now man, give it a rest. Seriously. blah blah blah blah blah. Of course its his fault. Duh
