    Amen BGF!!!

ok...it may or may not have been the 25-30 mph winds that were gusting that made penny's throws sail over receivers heads or a few yards off of the route...i think alot of people are overreacting here...people here should know that sometimes quarterbacks have bad days, sometimes players go in funks....we can call these last few games a funk, but by no means does it look like chad is hurt...he hasnt played bad the last few weeks except the Jags game and yesterday....it doesnt mean his shoulder is falling apart, it just means hes human

Yeah, as a Jets fan I'm really worried about Gentle Ben.
And I wouldn't go so far as to say we have a bunch of doctors on this board. Just one or two from what i've gathered.
And you could blame his performance on 25mph winds...if you don't want to face the fact that:
A-he could be injured again, or B-he might be injured again.
It's speculation of course, but he had absolutely no control over one of his passes yesterday. Even Baker's "robbed" TD grab was ALL BAKER, otherwise it's overthrown.

"The Wind"? Oh that's right. The Meadowlands doesn't have legendary winds that Chad's played against AND succeeded despite.
You could blame the wind. You could blame Bush and Cheney. But don't throw it out there that a guy with two shoulder surgeries might've taken a step back. He's not human afterall.

I wonder actually if he is not ACTUALLY HURT, if perhaps he is suffering from basic fatigue.

He's getting a lot of action in a short period of time....

Nobody was questioning Penningtons health after the last 2 games. Hes had 2 horrible games this year, the other 6 games hes been solid in every game. Just cuz he doesnt throw for 200+ doesnt mean he wasnt good vs Miami and Detroit

Overthrown? No...That was a perfect pass. He sucked all game, but he deserves kudos for that play. I guess some just love putting this guy down...

So a floating duck that a player needs to make a monster catch for and is knocked out of bounds because it was in the air for 2 hours is "perfect"? You must really like punts and kickoffs, they go right to the player too. And INTs, it got into SOME player's hands, so it was "perfect" right?

I think thats the best way to look at it. I don't think Chad is hurt, but rather fatigued. He's had to pass the ball a lot in this first half of the season. We have not been able to run very much, and we have relied on Chad more then we should.

His throws have been so so the last couple games. Some of that could be fatigue, but most of it comes from the pressure of the opposing defenses. The o-line has not been able to give Chad enough time to set and throw for the most part. And couple that with our lack of running attack, and you become predictable.

The Browns game was a bag of poor coaching and poor player execution. I don't understand the gadget plays, don't be cute, just line up your best players and give yourself a chance. They went to the well with Brad Smith twice, and it didn't work. Keep in mind those plays stopped 2 drives that could have made a difference. Washington tried to play smash mouth the whole game, instead of using his ability to get to the edge with his speed. No one was getting any yardage up the middle of the Browns def. I don't even remember one play where they tried to run to the outside.

Also keep in mind, we were playing against an o-line that was makeshift, with almost all the starters banged up, or out of the game. We could not get any pressure on the QB, and we still could not stop the run as usual. The D line looked awful for 3 plus quarters in that game.

I think our bright spot on the team is the special teams. Awesome job on returns, and good tackling. BG has been solid punting as usual, however the Nugent kick offs could use some extra umph...

All in all, I think the Jets have done pretty good job so far. I think people should look at the over all picture with this team, and keep in mind how young it is. No one expected us to do as well as we have. With that said, Chad is not the only problem, and I think we are getting way ahead of our selfs. I think the guy needs some rest, along with some other players like Coles. We have our bye week, lets see if we can use it to get going again......

PS. The refs sucked bad in this game:wink:

    This concludes my rambling....

Different slant: If Chad were really hurt, more than any other quarterback in the league, I see Chad concealing any injury as long as possible. He's already been labeled "injury prone," and the team has drafted his apparent successor. Chad KNOWS he can't rightly afford to be injured again. If you think he's playing hurt, I wouldn't discount that.

excellent point, and who else knows how to play through the pain more then chad...HOWEVER i did not see a lack of zip on his passes, not to mention many of his passes were overthrows which leads me to think his arm is not hurting, if it were hurting he would underthrow them and probably wouldnt attempt to throw the deep ball...you can argue either way, but i just dont think hes hurt in any way....clearly a bad day and nothing more IMO

You had to be in the bathroom or not have watched the game to have missed the wounded duck Penny threw up for a INT

That is a very good point too. I just wonder how long he can mask an injury with bad play. It won't take long until someone suspects something. I am willing to be a bit more patient with this coaching staff about his play simply because if he ends up being hurt, or if he play continues to suck, I believe they will bench him and put someone else in. Unless of course, they have reason to have no confidence in our other 2 options.

Similar to how he initially hurt his shoulder against Buffalo, remember?

One other thing occurred to me as I was thinking about the weather in Cleveland. It was not just windy with sporadic sprinkles it was also cold with a game time temperature of 50 degrees that dropped another 10 degrees as the game progressed into evening.

It would not be unusual for a person who has had a lot of surgery in an area, like the shoulder, to start feeling some real pain in the area as things chilled down.

I have a hip that gets very painful as the temperature gets cooler and then gradually adjusts as my system responds to the increased circulatory needs that cold weather causes. For an hour or two my right leg feels about an inch shorter than the left until the adjustment is complete.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the game. His throws were completely devoid of any power.

That's what happens when you release a ball and it comes out looking like a Ben Graham punt. Funny thing is the play before that he overthrew Coles on a bomb. Now seeing how his INT looked, it seemed as if he was throwing into the wind. So then consider the fact he overthrew Coles by 5 yards or so, he threw it 55 yards into the wind...that says enough

What's clear about his performance is that whether he was throwing hard or soft he had no touch on his passes, and he's a pure touch passer.

Even his long bombs are the feathered through a narrow window type of play, which is what makes them so much fun to watch.
