im talking about healthy....hes not hurt...he didnt play fine, he just had a hard time yesterday...we shouldnt read into this too much
You have to ask yourself, IF Chad were really hurt, do you think the coaches know he is? And if so, do they continue to start him? If they know he is hurt why aren't they pulling the trigger on letting someone else take the helm? I am not convinced that he's hurt, but he has been playing off the last couple games. But that could be coincidence.
Same thing with pitchers that have the kind of surgery he's had, my bet is his arm is tired. Hopefully he gets limited duirng the bye week and gains some strength back. You have to wonder though if at some point Mangini pulls what Coughlin did in '04 with Warner and Eli.
He stepped in and heaved as hard as he could what should have been a easy 35 yard completion down the field. That ball thrown short is an easy completion.
Because this was just one game, when he's played well most of the season. Chances are, if you throw a rookie like Clemens or a bust like Ramsey out there, you are going to get similar results pretty much every game.
Remember that he was over-throwing a lot at the end of the 2004 season with a clearly torn rotator cuff. One of his response mechanisms to arm pain in the past has been to throw the ball as hard as he can.
for the love of god,we are coming off a loss after 2 straight wins. He had a bad game. If he looks like that for 3 weeks straight, then maybe bring up that he's hurt etc etc. I cannot believe all the extremes around here. Washington only got 50 yards and ran everything to the inside yesterday when he got over 100 the week beofre,is he hurt too?
Very true, and the jury is still out on this one. My feeling is that Pennington does have a small problem with something but he just needs time to rest. Also bear in mind this will be like the 2nd time hes played over 8 games in a season. So whatever it is, should hopefully be gone with a few weeks rest. I still believe we can go 9-7 and Chad would be fine. Thus far however Chad's "comeback" to football doesnt mean anything to me unless he can play at least 14 games this season.
He didn't show up for the Jags game, the first half of the Miami game, 3 quarters of the Patriots game (and even the 4th quarter was more flukey big plays by his WRs), a few first quarters, and he hasn't finished well for a few games so that they were a lot closer than they should be. This isn't "one bad game." On the season he has what, 9 TDs and 8 INTs? He's had I think two 300 yard games to begin the season, and then he hasn't really done well. And what's worse is that we've basically been playing weak defenses and bottom feeders! It's not like his good games have been against winning teams or anything. I just don't see why fans insist that one cent is this top QB in the NFL and that we simply can't get another QB to do similar or better than him. Do you really think Clemens can be that much worse? At the least, I think Clemens would have given us a better chance to win against Jacksonville, NE and the Browns.
That was exactly how I viewed that pass it was the most un like Pennington pass you ever see. That was a pass he completes about 90% of the time, it was so over thrown it really surprised me and he looked like he threw it as hard as he could.
Ok, so I'm NOT the only one who thinks that Chad may have been hurt yesterday. His throws where ALL OVER the place.
sad to say that this was my view- when he's been hurt in the past chad hasn't necessary thrown softer on every throw. he'll throw a dying quail one play and then throw a perfect spiral as deep as we've ever seen him throw the next. the common thread is that neither pass has his usual accuracy. chad's bad games when he's healthy have typically been of the 300 yards and 4 int variety. It's only when he's been hurt that he goes 10-25 with 120 yards or whatever he was yesterday. Obviously I hope I'm wrong but the thought popped in my head yesterday.
That's ridiculous. He might have played as good or better in the Jaguars and Browns games. Might have. Not good enough to win either one, but maybe his final stats would look a little better. No way he plays better in the NE game. If Clemens was the starter this year, chances are, we are 1-7, with the one win being the Lions game. And that's far from a given. Even in the games Chad hasn't played great, he's doing things like running the no huddle, making presnap adjustments, making good decisions, etc. that have been a big part of our success, stuff that no rookie QB is going to be able to do. If Clemens played, we would have to dumb down the offense, and we aren't going to win games that way when the defense is playing terrible and the runnin game hasn't been consistently good.
I don't know but that throw he had to Baker at the end didn't look like to have an injured shoulder throwing it.
I do not think he is hurt. When he got hurt in 2004, he missed 3 weeks rehabbing. When he got hurt in the Jaguars game, he came back in the game and could not throw more than 5-10 yards. I don't think his performance has dropped off that much. Maybe it's possible that his arm is tired, I don't know if that is something that normally happens when recovering from this injury. If so, maybe the bye week will do some good. But I don't think he's suffered any serious injury.
I bet the overthrows and underthrows had nothing to do with the 25 mph winds...let's just blame it on his shoulder. Some of you really need to just shut up and stop being so paranoid. A player is allowed to stink the joint up a few times...just because he does, doesn't mean he's injured. I find it hilarious how we seem to have a bunch of telepathics and doctors on this board who know what's going on inside his shoulder thanks to the way he threw the ball in windy conditions. Roethlisburger was a hell of a lot worse in a lot better conditions...I'd be more worried about him than Chad right now. And to the idiot that said Mangini needs to bench Chad now, you are the reason most people don't take Jets fans seriously
