foolish to waste debate on this. Love Fitz and what he has done this season,, but MVP discussion is just another case of a reporter selling newspapers for his employer.
No. He's having a career year but let's not pretend it's an MVP year. Maybe if he threw 15 more td passes this year with 5 less picks. But with his stats as is no way he's the MVP. Best year a Jets qb has had in long time is good enough for me, especially if we win 5 more games!
It could be Bowles because if Rex was still here, Geno would have been made the starter again. It's just what he does.
Before talking MVP for any Jets player, how about clinching a playoff spot first? Of the 58 NFL MVP Awards, only two players received the award playing on a team which failed to make the playoffs ('67 Colts Unitas and '73 Bills OJ). If Jets clinch a playoff spot, then we can make a more legitimate, albeit weak case for Fitz as MVP. Since Fitz is no Johnny U or Juice, there is no way he is getting the award without a Jets' playoff berth.
That's right,Then there's no way he gets the nod over Carson Palmer or Cam Newton ...its possible but we both know it isn't gonna happen
Certainly not the MVP of the league, but think about this ... barring a monster game against Minnesota, Fitz will pass for more yards this season than Aaron Rodgers! What kind of odds could you have gotten on that bet on opening day?? He's only 110 yards away from passing his career high, and a 275 yard day will get him to 4,000 yards for the season. Best season for a Jets QB in a LONG time.
MVP consideration meaning some 7th-10th place votes? I guess, but that's a pretty liberal definition of consideration.
Ring of Honor...er one day maybe Mrs. Fitz gives him an award that they won't have to move after season
Well ... if he ends the year throwing 5 TDs on buffalo to clinch a playoff berth he may be a top 5 candidate thats about it. Cam and Palmer so far distanced from everyone else though regardless
Most improved player has to be Adrian Peterson, right? Nearly 1500 yards and double digit touchdowns at age 30 after a year off.
Mehta is high. Carson, Cam, and Brady only ones I'd consider. Fitz is winning games and has been clutch late. Be nice if he could improve the accuracy on his deep throws. Even the ones he completes Marshall has to adjust to make the catch.
Cam, Palmer, Brady, and Wilson are the only people that should be in the conversation. The one non-QB who deserves a mention is DeAndre Hopkins. What he's been able to do with a rotating door of crap at quarterback to get that team to the playoffs is remarkable. Probably the best WR in the league.
Under normal circumstances I think you're right- but AP missed a year serving suspension for beating the shit out of a child- so the NFL prob won't be quick to crown him despite his achievements on the field
Listen Fitz is having a great year. But MVP? Absolutely not. One could argue NFL Comeback Player of the Year though.
