For me it's the lame duck response of 2009. Really I think 2009 was just the Revis fan in me more than the team as a whole, I'm chaniging my answer to 2002. I do feel this team has far more potential than the 2009 team ever did. I would like to hear from you guys and when you had this much fun watching our boys play. This year through the wins and the losses it has been one of the best years for just sheer enjoyment from a fans perspective. Being able to watch players come into their own like Calvin, Leonard, Mauldin, Marcus, Quincy has made great strides of late, and others. To watch a superstar in Marshall rekindle the flame and play the best football of his career this late in his career. Decker becoming what us Jets fans knew he was while everyone else doubted him. Fitzmagic go from the replacement to the solution. He has had his ups and downs with the rest of the team no doubt but he has been nothing short of "magical". From the players side I know I'm leaving some people out in order to not make this a giant droning block of works. Last but not least by no mean is the front office and coaching staff. None of this would be possible without them. Bowles has to be in strong consideration for coach of the year, Gailey has been masterful managing Fitz through his growing pains and incorporating him into the offense last minute. Then the man that made all this possible, Magic Mike. Much thanks goes to this man and how he has assembled this team in the hectic manor in which he did. Thanks for all the fun this season! This picture embodies my inner feelings:
09 was actually a really frustrating season to me. The playoff run was fun and totally made up for it, but the regular season was pretty infuriating at times. So many blown leads, so much bad QB play. I'd say the '02 season (Pennington takes over) and '06 "Mangenius" seasons were the last really fun regular season campaigns for me. The biggest thing is that this is a very likeable team. No egos, just guys giving 100% every week (for the most part).
Heading out to Pittsburgh for the loss has always left a bitter taste in my mouth... 98 I was still raw and young, and was flying high all through the season
2010. That year I felt we were Super Bowl contenders from week 2 on after we thrashed the Patriots at home. We won some heart stopping games that year and it was a lot of fun to see the team build on its 2009 momentum. This year has been amazing but still doesn't feel real. I guess I can't wrap my head around Rex being gone, the amazing additions of Fitz, Marshall, Revis, etc., the IK punch, and being 10-5 with a potent offense a year after our most incompetent season in a while. The team chemistry has also been the best I've seen; how enjoyable has the Fitz/Decker/Marshall bromance been?! Also, we were so bad in the middle of the season that the turnaround also feels surreal. I guess it'll sink in if/when we beat Rex on Sunday.
This season has definitely been fun. Considering the wholesale changes made at the end of last year, we're doing pretty good. I just don't wanna see the Cardinals in our final game.
I can understand 02 because that year we had the QB. In 09-10 you knew we were going as far as the defense would take us. And that wasn't a very "fun" feeling trying to win 20-17 games every week.
