Here's the quote from the browns return man when asked about the play; http://www.cleveland.com/browns/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/sports/1162200793137910.xml&coll=2
While you couldn't really tell if it hit him or not, all the official had to see was Cribbs reaction. The guy was very obviously pursuing the ball. Had he not touched it, he would have left it alone. The fact that he was chasing after it was all you needed to see to make the correct call on that one. -X-
The refs hate us. I understand when we play against winning teams, but they hated on us against a 1-5 team. You'd think we'd earned calls ove a 1-5 team.
Yeah, right, because we all know that if that last play is in Giants Stadium and Peyton Manning makes that throw, we know the refs will huddle and come to the same conclusion: "he wasn't forced out." Yeah, and I'm sure the Tuck Fumble had nothing to do with the fact that Bob Kraft got helped and Al Davis got f*****.
But what if they made the "correct" decision in the 1st place? What if they had called it a fumble? Do they review it, not find any conclusive evidence, and the play stands as a fumble?
I don't think there was any evidence either on the replay or during the game that he touched it. He might have, but it didn't affect the ball. And while him running after it is an indication that he did touch it, I don't think you can call it a fumble because of that. Maybe he just panicked that he missed the ball, and thought it was a kickoff and he had to get the ball anyway. Based on his comments, that's probably not what happened. But it could happen, and it's why I don't think you could make the call based on his reaction.
I highly doubt the refs hate us. we were victims of a couple bad calls that went the wrong way. I doubt it was a malicious act by the striped shirts. they are humans. they make mistakes. heaven forbid we blame 4 q's of lousy offense & 3 q's of pathetic defense who couldn't stop the run even with andruzzi on the bench the ny jets have no one to blame but their flat, uninspired poor performance on the football field
Once again the officiating crew SCREWED the Jets. That Baker play you just KNEW he was coming down INBOUNDS and the DB pushed him outta bounds. And the Cribbs play he did NOT wiff, the ball TOUCHED him. But PERSPECTIVE says if the JETS had have played like they were supposed to, they would NOT have had to depend on those 2 plays. They played terribly after the opening drive and into the 4th qtr. They stunk the joint up. It was a TERRIBLE showing for a 'PROFESSIONAL' team. I was looking to see if Hackett was back on the sidelines making the calls. It was terrible. The execution, the play calling, it was just funky.
wow I got 3 weeks for something like that. Anyhow, yah change the teams to pats vs browns, and peyton manning makes that throw , There would be no conference with the refs. P.s insert tom brady, eli manning, rottenburger into that equation and it still holds true.
We definitely didn't get the calls and that was a fumble but we once again couldn't stop the run and let Charlie Frye get away too many times and complete a pass. The refs sure didn't help and that final call was BS and like someone else started a thread it should've been reviewable. Baker was in bounds and diving parallel to the out of bounds line and clearly was knocked sideways.
I'll tell ya what it is, it's the green pants. The refs can't take the team seriously wearing those damn pants. If we ever wear the all-green again, well, you don't want to watch that game.
