found this link to the telecast of Bucs vs Jets from 1985. Vern Lundquist and Terry Bradshaw were the CBS commentators. Jets played the Bucs the year before in which Tampa purposely let the Jets score late in the game so they could get their RB James Wilder a chance to break the all purpose yards record. Bucs won that game 41-21. The Jets didn't appreciate that and were licking their chops for this 1985 game in which they ran up the score to 62. Mickey Shuler went off in this game. Enjoy.

I watched that game and it was a joy. I've never seen a Jets team so pissed off not even to this day. Oh yeah, I loved those unis too. Especially the roadies..

    Thanks for posting this!

Funny thing is I didn't see this game because it was one of the few Jets games that wasn't broadcast in the Syracuse Area. So this is the first time I watched it. I just remember getting random scoring updates and the Jets were down early in this game 14-0. But then it was a fury of scoring. Joe Walton never let off the gas in this game.

Both team's uni's look much better than the current sets.

And notice people in the stands basically dress like normal folks? Not with expensive replica jerseys.

Yes...Walton felt the team played better in their road whites so it became the home jersey until 1989.

No. Closest was 56-35 over Arizona in 2008.

That 1985 team was stacked....the wild card loss at home was a major disappointment. The team was flat that day. If they had beaten NE I think they would have gone on to the SB. They would not have beaten the Bears of course.....

Thanks for finding this I had never seen the game - I was out of state.

Yes the Jets were drooling over this game.......the Jets had played TB the year before on a last place schedule and felt they were showed up by the TB defense towards the end of the game when all TB defenders were actually jogging backwards allowing Hector to basically walk into the EZ in an effort to preserve time for Wilder to break the record. Angry Jets players actually had to be held back from approaching outgoing Bucs coach John McKay while both teams were walking back to the locker room after the game. The good news was the clock ran out before Wilder could break the record. In 1985 good fortune had the AFC East playing the NFC Central and a rematch against TB - this time at home. A real ass kicking....

As a footnote the 1984 game is still the only time the Bucs have beaten the Jets to this day.

I was at that game. Fun time. Good weather. Good stadium. Too bad we didn't have our tailgating act together yet back then.

I never understand why the Jets were so outraged over the Bucs letting them score the year before. I remember watching on TV and being glad our defense was PO'd about them going for the record, and being happy he didn't get it, but I dont see how it was such an egregious act.

Favre laying down at Strahan's feet so that he could get the sack record was an egregious act....
