Can you imagine the shit storm if the Jets did move and made season ticket holders pay another seat license fee on top of the one we've already paid? He may not have made his fortune but he isn't stupid enough to charge the fans twice.
Another reminder why I hoped & prayed the West Side Stadium would have come to fruition. My grandfather and his son, my dad, grew up on those streets...it would have been Westie sweet.
That was Woody biggest mistake in allowing the Giants to bully him in sharing the stadium with some bs deadline about either join us or your out. The Giant organization worst nightmare would of been the Jets moving back over the river in their own stadium. He should of took the Queens deal while the pols would of handed it to him.
I don't think that's what happened. The Giants couldn't have built that place on their own. If there was a deadline it wouldn't have been with the Giants but rather with the state of NJ
The problems with that are that many people like to tailgate, and a lot of season ticket holders are from NJ. I don't all of Brooklyn of course, but I can't think of anywhere in the Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Prospect Park areas where they could build a stadium. I think it would have to be further out. I know that some areas are very industrial, and they wouldn't be good areas. Sunset Park maybe? Sheepshead Bay? Gravesend? There might be space out there, but I don't know about roads or trains.
Queens is worse than Brooklyn for congestion. The highways there are already a total nightmare. Where would they have built it?
I am from NJ and a season ticket holder and I would have given my left nut for the WSS. I've had a vasectomy but still, that empty feeling in the sack would have been weird. Worth it though to have a world class stadium in Manhattan. _
I don't think so but yeah that ship has sailed. Unless we're putting in a bid for an Olympics down the road I don't think it will ever happen. Such a shame that criminal Sheldon Silver nixed it. We would have been the envy of the world. It was gorgeous. _
People forget there was a ton of opposition among Jets fans for the WSS as well. The hardcore tailgaters hated it, and the people worried about traffic to and from the game being worse than it already is hated it. If WSS was ever built from a marketing standpoint it would've been huge to stamp outselves as NY's true and only football team (pfft, Buffalo is Canada) As it stands both teams compromised on a stadium that neither fan base likes
How many of us thought the exact same thing LOL? But I think Woody is turning the corner as an owner. He does the Dab very well
isn't that the truth !! They replaced it with an identical pc of shit, just bigger. With a chance to make something spectacular (as many of the newer stadiums are proving they can be), it is instead a huge disappointment.
