Mariota is NOT Tyrod Taylor. Mariota looks down field for WRs. I don't expect to change your mind, but I submit that your thinking is short-sighted. You win the battle, but lose the war in your kind of thinking. The Browns have absolutely NOTHING to gain by finishing 6-10. In all likelihood, Pettine is out as HC, so they won't be building momentum or have something to build on in 2016. That team has serious personnel issues and talent shortage, and more than likely will be blown up. There will be lots of new players, a new CS, and possibly new systems. They need a serious infusion of talent, the kind of talent that one has the opportunity to take at the top of each round. In addition to probably missing out on a true difference maker drafting #1 or even in the top 5, in the 2nd round they'd likely miss out on a player with 1st round talent that fell into the 2nd round. The 4th round is another key round where one can often find a great player who fell for some reasons sitting there at the top of the round.
Just what we need.....another 3-4 'pre-season games' at the end of the season. Some of you guys kill me.
I think Revis comes back this week and makes Mariota his bitch, along with Calvin Pryor. All of these games need to be taken very seriously but this should be an easy win
I completely understand and agree with all of that. However, on Game Day, I would be cheering my Browns on. I think the year was 2005 when Pennington and Fielder both got injured pretty quick into the season and the Jets had to roll with Bollinger. It was brutal and the odds were stacked against the team, but I watched every game hoping for a win. Come to think of it, it was actually easier to watch in 2005 than it was in 2014.
I agree with you that 2005 was easier to watch than 2014!!!! I can also understand it being difficult to root "against" your team during a game. I never like having to do it. I'm hoping that we never will have to again. I hope that Mac will be here for 20+ years, as will Bowles, and the team will be a perennial Lombardi Trophy contender, and by the time they retire, the Jets will have won at least 4-5 SBs.
The only thing two things that bother me about this season with the Jets is that they haven't beaten any team that currently as of week 13 has a winning record. And they sit at 7-5 despite having only played one team with a winning record. Very soft schedule as it's turning out.
While I appreciate your positivity, we all know that no game is an 'easy win' for the NY Jets. You've been a fan long enough to know this haha
Keep Mariota in the pocket and let him go through his progressions. He will struggle. Jets should win, but it will be tough to run on the Titans.
To be honest, the entire NFL is mediocre this year with the exception of a few teams. (Panthers, Cards, Pats, Bengals) And even those teams have lost to mediocre teams. Panthers played a real tight game against the 4-7 Saints and won it at the end of the 4th qtr.
I think Browns fans should be rooting for Johnny Football to show potential as their QB of the future. If he puts up good numbers and 4 wins to close out the season, that gives you confidence going forward that maybe things aren't that bad. Maybe Pettine shows he has something to build on and a reason not to fire him. IMO they should be rooting for that. I'd have little confidence in the GM / new GM to draft good players with the favorable pick anyway. As for the Jets vs the Titans... hopefully we'll have a good game plan and be able to keep a rooking QB from embarrassing us. The offense seems to be clicking. If we can't beat the Titans we probably don't "deserve" to make the playoffs this year. Same goes for the Dallas Cowboys with Romo injured.
New England has only beaten 2 teams with a winning record. Carolina is 12-0 and they've only beat 2 teams with a winning record. KC has only beaten 2 teams with a winning record and one them they lost to early in the year. It's an extraordinary year with all the Losing records in the league
Would you want Johnny Football as your QB? I wouldn't. He's more likely to wind up in jail or in rehab and suspended than he is to play a complete season and play at a solid professional level. He's an arrogant, entitled head case. I don't care how much talent he is.
I guess I understand rooting for them to lose in that situation - but do you SERIOUSLY blame the team for winning? It would be an absurdly bad example to set if you expected the team to "tank" that game or try to lose it.
No he leaves the pocket before making that pass which is what i was saying plays in our favor because of how well we clog the running lanes to get out of the pocket. He definitley scrambles to the outside and then looks down field he barely ever takes off even though he obviously can. and he doesn't look down field for WR's usually on that roll out play he's looking for that beast Delanie Walker. Pryor will take care of him hopefully.
No such thing as an easy win. Yes we should win but Titans have put some points on the board this season. Our offense should be able to control the game and clock though. Need to get Ivory some more touches and I think he has a huge game this Sunday.
