He's been ruled out for Sundays game vs the giants. Apparently he showed up for meetings for the first time since the concussion today, but was sent home early. Seems like he's no where close to ready and I have a feeling he will miss next week as well. I don't ever recall a concussion taking this long to heal. I wonder if there is something else going on here . Also, Marcus Williams is very doubtful to play on Sunday as well. Time to see if all this depth at CB everyone has been touting all season is worth a damn . Time for someone to step up big time here. Discus
You don't recall a concussion taking this long to heal? Really? Yes- something else is going on. Bowles has lost the locker room. _
Everybody reacts differently to concussions. Some guys are knocked cold one week and scoring 3 td's the next. Others take some time...Revis is the latter
It's been nearly 2 weeks an he can't even attend a meeting . I know everyone takes different times but this is the longest I've ever seen a player take to recover
Because it's the NFL and some people haven't adjusted to the fact that they actually give a fuck about concussions now.
LOL, but it's been a major point of contention for years. And, regardless of how the NFL reacts to concussions, the fact of the matter is that a concussion is a serious injury with potentially serious long-term consequences on a player's health. It should not shock anyone that a player could miss 2 (or more) games due to a concussion.
The NFL doesn't give a shit about anything. The concussions are up 50% from last year, and you saw that with Case Keenum. Dude was knocked out cold and he somehow still played like 2 snaps with a severe concussion before he was done. The NFL didn't do shit. Boxers get a 6 month suspension after a knockout, same with MMA fighters. Yet in the NFL people already call you out for being a pussy if you miss a game, if you're out longer than 5-8 days. And the NFL doesn't want guys to miss any time either. If they really cared about the players they'd shut anybody that suffers a concussion down for the entire year, but that's bad for business.
That's the truth. I used to work boxing in many states, and while they had different rules, fighters who suffered ko's were always given mandatory amounts of time off. I'd catch Mexican fighters trying to flout rules by fighting under different names. They just wanted to make some dough and go home.
I guess you don't follow hockey. Sidney Crosby once missed about 10 months due to a concussion, returned for 8 games and when symptoms returned missed another 3 months. A severe concussion can result in an extreme sensitivity to light and sound. My daughter had a severe concussion and basically had to stay in a dark room with no TV for almost two weeks, didn't fully recover and get cleared to play for over 2 months.
I don't know if the # of concussions has likely increased. What has increased is the number of concussions reported. What makes that even scarier is that if the # of concussions reported has increased with all these rules changes in place - on how defensive players can hit and sideline docs - one can only imagine how many occurred per game in the old days.
