I guess we'll see. I'd bet an SC movie would gross more than a WC movie, yes. The story is deeper and better, imo. WC 1 and 2 were boring Orcs and Humans. WC3 included Night Elves and Undead. WoW went deeper and included dragons and all sorts of shit fantasy geeks like as you say. SC only suffers to WC because it doesn't have an MMO and a card game like WC does. If it did then Blizzard wouldn't have cared about competing with EverQuest and Magic, which is why those games exist in the first place..
It's simple...There is a void in the fantasy market right now, that is why Blizzard has went with Warcraft first. Tons of sci-fi films out...And I love me some Sci-Fi but Ridley Scott is churning out sequels to Prometheus and there is a ton of space films out
I think a big problem with StarCraft is the story line is also very similar to the Alien franchise, although action oriented. You have the marines, you have the aliens (zerg) and now in Prometheus you have a "protoss" like race. I'd probably go see it, and I'm sure it could be done, but it might not work. They'd probably try to turn it into a love story between Raynor and Kerrigan anyway. Can a zerg queen bent on dominating the universe truly love a simple human?
