^ also Jarrett is done for the year. Pryor is the only safety temporarily banged up, meaning we'll need another S on the 53 sooner than later imo, if for no other reason special teams. Safeties are very active on specials, and Miles is quite good at it.
I think you may be talking out of your ass at this point. If it wasn't a matter of prioritizing other positions over safety, why haven't they activated a safety off the PS our signed one? We have 2 total active safeties on the roster right now. Look at what's actually happening and not just your theory. I've seen the same stuff at TE. People don't want to think TE is a low priority, just because they look at the roster and think it lacks talent. The fucking Pats are as deep at that position as it gets and they are having tryouts this week. It's not the talent on the roster, it's how you address the position.
i answered the bolded question in the very same post. there are a lot of guys with short term injuries, occupying roster spots without playing, making roster spots very tight. it makes for a tough decision on who to cut in order to add another S, especially if they aren't too high on the available S options. you can't go too long with only 3 S's on the entire roster, with only 2 active. S is not a position you can do that with. they play a huge role in specials, and you need 2 out there at all times on D. they are taking a gamble right now, but i'm sure they are working Williams and Walls as the emergency backup options. personally, i'd cut Bowen and promote Miles. i'm actually surprised Bowen is still on the roster.
I don't think you did answer it, you just tried to. The Jets are as thin at S as they are at RB, although the starter at RB is far better than any player at S. They chose to activate Ridley and dump Jarrett. That's prioritizing one position over another, and it's a glaring example.
what you described is prioritizing talent over position, and i do agree there is some of that going on. fwiw, they activated Ridley while cutting Owusu.. do you honestly think the Jets will keep only 2 Safeties rostered for long, or do you agree this is a temporary arrangement?
Sounds like alot of starters not healthy for this game.. Time for the guys on the bench to show what they can do or else. Mac has to find us some backups fast before we are decimated.. We may have a slow start but we win in 2nd half I think
Lol @ how many ppl said pryor sucks now are going crazy because he's out. I like Bailey though. You were drinking some serious kool-aid if u thought he'd stop the gronk-Brady connect. There's no gronk or Brady today. Bailey will be fine. Jet up
I think we are probably going to see Williams and the other CB's on the field a bit more until they get it sorted.
We had a guy that managed to do just that, then our coach brilliantly benched him for player so far past his prime the sell by date could be considered a relic. That was followed up by then sticking said Gronk stopper at CB to ensure that any progress the kid made at safety was completely undone.
Revis is too good in coverage to want to do it but he's a very cerebral player. You don't want to take him out of his element but he's eventually going to play free safety as most great corners do. It'd be an interesting look at times to get quarterbacks to think about the fact that he's over the top.
They actually have 3 safeties and unless they decide to cut Stacy loose right after Ridley is activated I can see them staying with 3 for a decent stretch, because the running game is currently more important to them than the back end of the defense. Priorities and such.
The nefarious bumping of your own thread...... *looks around* ..... *cough*.... Rontez Miles has been called up and Jarvis Harrison has been waived. Congrats kid, welcome to the show! Looking forward to seeing him out there tomorrow.
1 year ago Pryor was a throw away.... Now he's the lynch pin of the defense.... Thanks for leaving, Rex!
