Robinson Cano caught Game 4 of the World Series on television the other night, but he wasn't exactly fascinated. "I'm not interested," he said Friday. "I'd rather spend time with my family than watch the games. We should be playing in the World Series right now." Instead, Cano signed autographs for dozens of Little Leaguers from the Castle Hill section of the Bronx on Friday. "The week after we lost was the worst," he said. "I felt terrible. I want to win. You don't play 162 games and then expect to go home." In his first full big-league season, Cano was third in the American League in hitting with a .342 average, one percentage point behind Derek Jeter and five behind batting champion Joe Mauer of the Twins. He had 15 homers and 78 RBIs in 122 games but was 2-for-15 in the Division Series. Cano, who turned 24 Sunday, had praise for Kevin Long, the Yankees' Triple-A hitting coach, who will be introduced as Don Mattingly's replacement next week. Mattingly, who returned to the Yankees in 2004 as hitting coach, will replace Lee Mazzilli as Joe Torre's bench coach. "He's one of the best guys," Cano said of Long. "In Triple-A, I remember I was struggling a little. I went down to the cage and worked with him, and after that, I started doing good. The next season, I hit .333." Cano added: "He motivates you. He works hard. He always arrives early and he doesn't just concentrate on one or two players. He works with everyone." Cano posed for pictures with members of the Castle Hill Little League, distributed Spalding baseball gloves and signed copies of "The Boy of Steel," a children's book by Ray Negron that features Cano and other Yankees. But as charity-oriented as Cano is, that wasn't where he wanted to be. "I went home for my birthday and spent some time with my family," he said. "For me, it's been difficult because I would like to be in the World Series right now." DUDE GIVE THE TIGERS CREDIT THEY BEAT YOU THEY WERE THE BETTER TEAM GO CRY TO YOUR MOMMY THAT YOU ARE NOT IN THE WORLD SERIES i am sure the mets are mad but there not talking to the media about it JUST SHUT UP
Dude, I've told you before I feel bad for you, but this was inappropriate. Where do you get off calling someone gay, especially with a thread title that makes it appear he came out of the closet, just because he is pissed off he missed out on the WS? Just because you aren't hearing about it doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of guys in the majors right now that don't wish they played for the Cardinals. You obviously like to start trouble, but you are really pushing your luck these days. As far as giving the Tigers credit, he never said a word against them. All he said is that he should be in the WS. That's how every single MLB player feels. They don't play simply for the money.
JetsRule128, you must be on crack or heavy dosages of medication to have said a response like yours. With that said, I hope Robinson Cano hits you with his baseball bat..
just to let you know.. its not funny at all.. your on a Jets message board where nobody likes you posting things noone wants to here... do you like getting insulted? or do you just like the attention?
The only gay ones are you and Kaysar. So what, I dont see him bashing the tigers, enough with this annoying crap.
