Im an Aussie and of course biased, does anyone see value in Jarryd Hayne as a kick returner?

He's had an average start, but i believe his transition is nowhere near complete. I've watched NFL for over 10 years after coming from a rugby league background and I think any team will benefit once he gets a better handle on the game. Just my patriotic (ex-pat) thought?

Anyone agree he would be a fit at the Jets?

I think he can be a very good player for us...Ivory cant stay healthy and if Ridley does not play at a high level then we are left with Powell and Stacy who are decent backups for a team not focused on running the football like we do...we need better runners

I think at the very least we bring him here for a tryout to both return punts (Owusu out) and ran the ball...both areas of need...he does seem not to be the greatest of catchers though but he is tough, fast and shifty...

    I don't think picking up a 9er reject is a good idea.

CBS Sports reports that Matt Forte is on the trade block. I've rolled my eyes at most of the trade possibilities posted here but that one caught my attention. He broke the NFL record for receptions by a running back last year so he'd fill an obvious need, and with Ivory's injury problems he'd be a great way to keep him healthy. How bout Forte-Ivory as a 1-2 punch? That's unreal. He's in the last year of his contract and his number for this year isn't even that high. Could you see a 3rd rounder for a 1 year rental? Given Mac's brief history of splash moves, I wouldn't put it past him. It's the type of move that would put us from playoff contenders to AFC contenders.

    From the same article:

"The Falcons and Jets are teams that could be open to making a trade to enhance their roster as the rebuilding teams have quickly found themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt, sources said -- a tight end or pass rusher would make sense for both teams -- but often teams holding veteran players want to land a higher return via trade than they would get for the player in terms of a compensatory pick in the 2017 draft, which makes the odds of completing deals low."

He's wore some tread off those tires and could we even fit him under the cap at this point?

His 2015 salary is $7 mil, cap hit $9 mil, but the Bears would have to pick up half of it because they had him for half the season. It'd be a tight squeeze but it's close enough that it would work with some finagling (restructure/defer money to someone else on the roster). He comes off the books after this season so it wouldn't affect us long term unless we make a really stupid restructure with someone like Brick to fit him under the cap.

Forte makes no sense. First we don't have the cap space. Second, a high pick for a 6 game rental only makes sense if we were on a Super Bowl push. Third, we got much younger talent due for pay raises in Ivory and Wilkerson so throwing out money to Forte makes no sense. We need to do what other teams manage to do which is find RBs in the late rounds

He was very good when he actually had the ball in his hands.

Yeah, you're right. I'd rather give the opposing team the ball on our 30 than start with it on our 30.

He did have 5 fair catches. 8 returns. 3 fumbles. So overall he was just terrible. :D
I think I mentioned this last week but Kerley isn't to blame for fair catching those punts. It's the smart thing to do if you have 2 guys charging at you and don't want to fumble the ball. The ST unit just has to improve overall, they have to block better. Last week we had our starting defense on special teams. Cromartie and Revis outside blocking those special teams aces that NE has. Of course that wasn't going to work out.

Jarryd Hayne was a great, feel good story to talk about coming into the season....considering the team had absolutely nothing else good to talk about.....

I actually doubt that it was sarcasm after reading the posts on this board.
