And, without pulling up the thread so that the whiners may come out, I wanna know, how many of you want Michael Turner right here and now?

If you decide to contribute to this thread, just make your case on yes or no. If you take a nice hard look, Leon has been just as consistent as Michael Turner, less the 6 yard per carry average over 3 fragmented seasons (afterall, Michael Wiley averaged 6.2 for his fragmented 3 year career as well with the Cowboys!)

Hey man I dont know if you have been around the site consistently lately but I have been giving yo constant props for calling the success Leon is having. You basically said form day 1 he'd be a stud and I originally doubted you but I totally agree now, so my answer to your question is NO....

By the way, are u a Jets fan now that Leon;s here?/

Just a suggestion, but you might get more responses if you include Michael Turner's name somewhere in the title to the thread.

I agree with Jtuds. Leon is a keeper.

I never really wanted Turner here because I didn't want to trade for a running back. I did think we'd need to draft a guy, but I forgot how quickly good offensive lineman can fix the run game.

I'm a life long Jets fan!!! I just happen to be an NYC transplant living here in Jacksonville, Florida. That's what made him going to the Jets more the better; to have followed this kid through his high school days and being on his side before, even anyone in this area thought that he was a stud; and to top it off, he goes to the team that i have followed my whole life.

I swear, I was with him the first day of the draft because I thought that he was going in the 3rd round. We were at his grandmother's house going through his high school scrapbook and watching the draft on television. You can see in his eyes and his body language that he was disappointed in some of the guys who had gone in front of him.

He said the teams who had wanted him the most were the Colts and Broncos. He said Tony Dungy was especially interested in him playing with Manning on the next-turf and the Broncos loved him for their blocking scheme (imagine Leon behind the Broncos o-line or even in an offense with Peyton Manning!). Jack Del Rio told his typical lie of interest, but that all went up in smoke when they took Maurice Drew in the 2nd round.

He told me that he was going to make those teams regret not taking him. I also remember the day that he was drafted (I was home for this day), I saw Denver and Indy on the board and I knew that he was going to go to either team in the 4th round; ironically, the Jets were there too. I thought about what we needed and said, Leon would not have been a bad pick for us, then Brad Smith was picked up with that 4th round pick. I had forgotten that we had two 4th rounders, so I thought that Brad Smith was it. When I saw the second 4th round pick come up, I said to my wife "We're getting Leon", just throwing it out there. When they announced that they picked him, and they showed his picture on television, I could not describe the feeling. I could not have felt any better if my own son had won the Heisman or was the 1st overall pick in the whole draft!

I have what I call one of my Jets treasures; It's a sign that says "Jets Lockeroom". I drove to his grandmother's home and gave it to her; she even had me sign it and date it to signify that day.

good story man, not good enough to post twice though.. Do you still talk to him? How is he handling the success he is having? What I like about him( besides his amazing talent) is he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He seems to have alot of Curtis Martin in him, in more ways than one. Hopefully he can withstand the pounding it takes to be a workhorse RB in the NFL, that seems to be the only thing that can hold him back from being the next franchise RB of the NYJ..

Yes, I still keep in touch. He'll be down here for the bye next week. In fact, I'm watching the 1 pm Jags game at his grandmother's (She wants to see my new-born son) Personality-wise, he is as genuine as you can be. I have met several celebs and what not and I see through athletes when they're being phoney. Leon is the goods. Lee is cool and down to earth. I was actually thinking about asking him to make a visit to my old high school in the Bronx during the off-season or just making a visit if I were to put together a clinic in the NYC area. Kids in NYC don't have as great a chance to be great football players like they have down here because there are so many other things for them to get into.

I know of athletes that smile all in the camera but are full of sh*t with extra cheese. Now, I'm not going to mention Byron Leftwich's name, but there are some real jerk-offs out there!

You know, I never liked Leftwich and I couldn't exactly say why until now - I think you just indirectly told me why. He kind of strikes me as a borous show-off type. Just not a likeable guy......

Leon sounds real cool though...and I figured he was a nice guy....

    Never wanted Turner.

Leon is an absolute stud. Easily my favorite player since the first time I saw him in the pre-season. The kid's got skill, his ability to stop and turn on a dime is amazing, and of course he's got great speed.

During the 06 Draft, I was constantly cheering for a RB the entire time. As soon as leon was picked, I was psyched. I watched some highlight reels and was very impressed. And just because it was the pick for herm, I just had a feeling he would be a stud.

Leon will be the franchise RB on the jets for year's to come.

I'll tell him! And to make sure that you all know that it's him, I'll ask him to give The Gang Green a shout out on one of his interviews, so listen out for it. Hopefully I can get in touch with him soon, or I'll just have to wait til the bye. His high school team is going to the playoffs, so I'm sure I'll see him when he comes down here.

Hey, I hate to crash the party here dudes, but isn't a little early to start proclaiming this guy a keeper and a stud and blah blah blah? He had one decent game. Forget about j-ville that's a garbage time game. Sure, he's shown flashes, but I need to see a whole lot more before I go proclaiming him.

Lamont Jordan looked great as a backup to Curtis but when he got his chance he wasn't and isn't very good in oakland so be careful w/ Turner.
