Any one of those reasons and we win the game. Marshall holds on, we win. Ivory not injured early, we win. Pryor on the field for the 3rd and 17? We win. NE needed like 6 things bad to happen to the Jets to have any shot at winning the game. They got all 6.
Great post, puts things in perspective. It was a classic case of everything going wrong at the wrong time. We play this game ten times, NE wins maybe 5 or 6 times out of ten.
I don't disagree, but we also have to take into account that Dion was out and the Pats dropped a lot of passes.
Dion being out actually helped NE. If he had been active, NE would have wasted downs trying to run the ball.
I get that this is a joke, but I think my question is why is this loss so troubling? The Jets played great, is it that they played well enough to win or was it who they were playing or that a few small mistakes culminated in a loss. ya'know, the pats made a lot of mistakes too, just made the right plays at the right times and at home. I really think Gronk scoring at the end almost cost them the game, he could have taken a knee at the one, they could have run the clock down and kicked a field goal if they couldn't run it in on 3rd down, which was a virtual impossibility given the Jets run defense. There were plenty of errors to go around. I am not a jets fan, if you can't tell, but jets fans really have a lot to be grateful for and most of all, each one of you need to thank God Rex Ryan is gone and you apparently have found the coach you need. Yeah, his time management was bad, he can learn, but the future is bright.
He does his damage after the catch so if you leave him open he's gonna make plays, if you cover him he's not gonna be a factor.
Of course it was. Sheldon & Mo would have stuffed him in the back field like all the other 'dangerous RBs'. Having him out made Belicheats decision not to run the ball easier. He didn't have to endure 5 tackle for a loss before pulling the plug.
BOTH teams made mistakes. For example if the Pats hold onto just 1 of the 3 balls that hit their hands on D they win by a bigger margin. If Edelman doesn't get hurt on that TD throw the pats win is bigger.. All I am saying is it was a great game and either team could have won and saying if XYZ happened we won is not being fair to your team that played damn well.
He never would have made it to our LBrs. Sheldon, Mo, and Pryor would have killed him all game long. Harris could have taken the night off.
This was the first game I've seen Belicheck frustrated and a bit scared on the sidelines. Only showed it once, but the look on his face and demeanor was priceless. At least for a few mins!
It's the first time the Jets truly scared him IMO . Let's face it outside of one year under Rex he has owned this matchup and he'll the AFCE.
