I don't even know why this is a discussion. Only a team that is in as desperate a situation as the Chiefs are would chance the type of negative press that signing Rice would bring at this point, and there aren't even rumors of anyone talking to him.

We're not desperate at RB, just thin, due to some non-season-ending injuries.

Its a topic because we are coming off a loss where the run game was bleh.
We gash oakland for over a 100 and this will go away.

Fuck Ray Rice. We don't need that piece of garbage on our team. I'd rather go 11-5 without him than 13-3 with him. What is your obsession with Ray Rice anyway? That you, Ray?

What makes you think I have an obsession with Ray Rice? Someone started a thread to start a discussion and I am sharing my opinion on the matter.

If you are going to say you don't want him for moral reasons then why don't you have a problem with Brandon Marshall? Maybe because he's a good player who's helping the team? Funny, I think Rice could do the same.

If you're going to worry about whether the players on your favorite team are good guys or not you might want to consider not following the NFL because it's filled with scumbags like Brandon Marshall and Ray Rice.

All morality and media relations reasons aside, I don't think Rice is enough of an upgrade over Powell/Ridley to warrant shaking up the roster from people who already know what they're doing. I'm skeptical that he's still got it after all this time. Maybe I'd bring him in for a workout to check out his burst, but I want to see Ridley before making that call. Ivory/Ridley/Powell is plenty good enough for me, provided Ridley is back in healthy form. We're in agreement that Stacy can go fuck himself, especially as a kick returner.

Ray Rice hasn't played in two years. Ray Rice's skills were deteriorating BEFORE he got suspended. Ray Rice doesn't know our system. Ray Rice would bring a lot of negative press to the team. Ray Rice is done.

yes but either way McCags should've taken a RB in the draft. it was a talented bunch all the way through the mid to late rounds. He waited until they were picked over and we ended up with Stacy in the trade.

No disagreement there. There were good backs to be had all the way to the 5th round.

Meh. We had Ivory, Powell, an injured Ridley, Richardson. We had a lot of other needs too, and there are always FAs around who can plug holes for you. Stacy is a plodder, but show me a RB taken in the 7th who will be better (there were some UDFAs I'd like to have - Rawls and Zenner). Signing Ridley was a strange move at the time, and maybe that gave us a false sense of depth.

I'm not a strict best player available guy. I understand factoring in needs on draft day but you can grab value steals by looking at best position available prior to the draft. That kind of subtle awareness can allow you to "luck" into a great team. If you are staring at the best running back class in quite some time, even if you have decent running backs you make it priority to grab one late because this year's 4 or 5th rounder might be a 2nd rounder any other year. You are drafting the guy for the long term not the short term.

Keep in mind our 4th turned into our future franchise QB and our 5th was traded for Marshall, so we didn't have that many luxury picks.

Because you've made it clear that you do. Idk, but I haven't seen video of Marshall KOing his Gf. And I never said I condone Marshall to begin with.

I haven't cared for Ray Rice since before the 'incident'. He's always been a douchebag.

And you're just stereotyping by saying the NFL is "filled" with scumbags. Sure, there are some. But, filled? Stereotype much?

This is exactly right. If Rice was still likely to be a good RB somebody would have signed him already, bad publicity or not.

From 2009 to 2012 Rice averaged 21.6 touches a game, not including targets that he didn't catch but got hit on anyway. In 2013 he fell off a cliff in terms of performance. That's not surprising given the workload at 5'9" 195 lbs.

What the fuck are you talking about stereotyping? Facts much? Every team in the NFL has a scumbag or two on them.

If that hurts your feelings then go cry to Ed Schultz or some other hysterical liberal pussy about it. I don't give a shit.

So 1 or 2 scumbags on a team and the league is "filled" with them? Haha. You good at math, bro? Ray Rice is a douchebag that wouldn't help this team.

Btw, I have no clue who the hell Ed Schultz even is, but my guess is that he's a whole hell of a lot smarter than you.

I think Rice deserves a second chance in the league...but really is there that big of a discrepancy with Stacy and Rice at this point?

Powell is better and we're probably getting Ridley back this week.

Do you simply brush it off if a couple high level executives per team are scumbags? Because that's what it is in the NFL. You don't stay around the league if you're a douchebag and you're not good. You become dead weight and cut immediately.

Most of the scumbags in the NFL are very good players. High numbers of them or not they play a very big role in this league and you're as ignorant as they come if you don't think so.
